???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
Sorry, but I felt I had to post this here. It is a blog written by the beat writer for the Indiana State Sycamores. The bottom part of his blog is dedicated to the ISU fans whom he heard had stormed the court after beating Bradley-
"??“ Speaking of fans, did I read correctly that Illinois State??™s students rushed the floor after the Redbirds??™ 51-50 victory over Bradley in the War Slap Fight on 74?
In case you need to be reminded, the Illinois State-Bradley game decided ninth place in the MVC. I know its a rivalry and all, but ??¦ really? Seriously? Illinois State fans rushed the floor for ninth freaking place?
Someone in Blo-No tell me this was some sort of ironic statement. That the ???Birds are so bad that this was some sort of sarcastic gesture to celebrate Illinois State??™s ineptitude when it avoided last place. I could get behind that. It would be delightfully weird.
But based on everything I??™ve gathered, there was no irony at work here. It was a legitimate court-storming, almost certainly designed to stick it to a rival. Oh burn of burns! The ???Birds beat the Braves for ninth place! The concept of bragging rights has rarely meant so little. Rivalry or not, it??™s big-time weak sauce to storm the court in that situation. My god, Redbirds??™ fans, act like you??™ve been there before. Illinois State students, I??™m confident you have the honor of the worst court-storming in the history of college basketball. Congrats."
Congratulations to the Redbird fans for such a distinguished honor. Great to see this act is getting such notoriety!

I pretty much agree. I thought it was stupid at the time too. But then again, I am reminded of Wessler's words in today in the PJStar.
"The only thing more embarrassing is having nothing to celebrate."
and isn't that true? We have gone so far down, that this gets us upset? The other team's fans being excited about a win?
Was it stupid? probably....but don't we wish our fans could get excited? Even a little bit?

As far as irony... I threw up a #9 in the mass of people.
"But instead lets just hate while their MBB and WBB programs play blackjack against BU. Twenty-One in a row, seven by the Men & 14 by their women." ~NSBF
Haha...what would make it better is if next year in a similar situation the BU students storm the court on ISU........oh wait is it considered storming the court with only 10 guys?!?
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

If the situation were reversed: Bradley winning at home this late in the season over rival ISU, avoiding last place (and putting them in last), and assuring 9th place..... and the court getting stormed. I seriously could not see KW having that same opinion. Honestly, I believe he would somehow blame JL for the classless act by the students/fans storming the court.

I have never seen him do anything like that. I would be very surprised if that happened.

Oh - believe me... if Bradley had it's students/fans rushing the court in a situation like last night... KW woulda been on JL for not controlling the students/fans from storming the court... it woulda been JL's fault he didn't personally have the Civic Center security/ushers/staff holding back any attempt at a rush. That's KW's style. But you're right... that would be a warranted attack on JL from KW. Just like all his other hit pieces. And yet KW and the PJS does not have an agenda. Whatever.
