  • MVC standings and RPIs

With yesterday's BracketBuster games (MVC lost 7 of 10 BB games), the MVC conference RPI is now probably locked into 12th place.

With a good day yesterday, it's possible the MVC could have risen to 11th or even 10th in the RPI rankings. But now there is no more chance for the conference to significantly raise it's RPI, since there are no more games against outside competetion.

Here are the MVC team RPIs (from RealtimeRPI.com)-

Both WSU and MSU's RPI took a hit, and are now out of the top 50. Recall that Barry Hinson's Missouri State teams in 2006 and 2007 were left out of the NCAA tournament with much better RPIs (18 in 2006-a record for teams left out), and they had better resumes than either WSU or MSU has this season.
So though a lot depends on how many slots get taken because of upset winners in conference tournaments, IMO there is now no chance for any team, other than the MVC Tournament winner, to get an NCAA bid.

The MVC regular season championship probably will go down to the last moment to determine, though it only has a bearing on the automatic NIT bid. Both MSU and WSU are 13-3. Missouri State plays at SIU on Wednesday and home against WSU on the Saturday. WSU plays at home against Creighton on Wed., then at MSU on Sat.

    Standings-
    SCHOOL.............CONF...OVERALL...
    Wichita State......13-3.......22-6
    Missouri State.....13-3.......21-7
    Northern Iowa.....10-6.......19-10
    Indiana State......10-6.......15-13
    Creighton.............9-7.......17-12
    Evansville.............8-8.......14-13
    Drake.................6-10.......12-16
    Southern Illinois...5-11.......12-16

While I do not think it was possible for the MVC to remain as the #6 ranked league it was in 2006 or so, I also can't believe the league should be as bas as #12. That's just bad. The league and its members have to get better. Plain and simple.

The MVC is a basketball league. It's the bread and butter. The league as a whole needs to be in the #8-10 range every year. Bradley needs to start doing its part by winning a lot more--as do other MVC teams.

I know Bradley has to do it's part by winning a lot more, but ISU red better start doing their part and scheduling up! What a pathetic resume of non-conference games the past three years! The only good thing for us is that it would keep us out of 10th place should we win in Normal on Tuesday night.

We need a few more, shaun.
Last I heard there were still tickets available.

If any other Bradley fans are interested- call the Bradley ticket office. They might still have some of their allotment left-- (309) 677-2625

If that doesn't work, try the ISU ticket ofice- (309) 438-8000

Or, tickets can be purchased online through the ISU Ticket office website-
              http://ev9.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncomme...=TM&RDAT=ELIST

I just tried for 2 tickets on the website, and was offered Section MM, Row 14. That's midcourt seats, so good tickets are available.
