With yesterday's BracketBuster games (MVC lost 7 of 10 BB games), the MVC conference RPI is now probably locked into 12th place.
With a good day yesterday, it's possible the MVC could have risen to 11th or even 10th in the RPI rankings. But now there is no more chance for the conference to significantly raise it's RPI, since there are no more games against outside competetion.
Here are the MVC team RPIs (from RealtimeRPI.com)-
Both WSU and MSU's RPI took a hit, and are now out of the top 50. Recall that Barry Hinson's Missouri State teams in 2006 and 2007 were left out of the NCAA tournament with much better RPIs (18 in 2006-a record for teams left out), and they had better resumes than either WSU or MSU has this season.
So though a lot depends on how many slots get taken because of upset winners in conference tournaments, IMO there is now no chance for any team, other than the MVC Tournament winner, to get an NCAA bid.
The MVC regular season championship probably will go down to the last moment to determine, though it only has a bearing on the automatic NIT bid. Both MSU and WSU are 13-3. Missouri State plays at SIU on Wednesday and home against WSU on the Saturday. WSU plays at home against Creighton on Wed., then at MSU on Sat.
