MCD I think you are correct in that they might have had some differences of opinion regarding Mo. Do know they are friends now.

we all get labels..some deserved...some not...its life...if I was here saying JL should be canned I would expect to be labeled...anti JL...why would I have a problem with it? Doesn't make me a bad fan...just anti-JL...

Because I have not called for his job...some may label me pro-JL...so what...
I thought one of the forum rules was to make it about the post NOT the poster. IF thats not true then let the name calling continue.

I can take it and I'm not hurt. I laugh as its my comic relief of the day.

I suggest and was always taught those that DO the name calling over and over are the ones that are hurting.

Why am I the only one who says fine call me anti-jl.

I would tell him respectfully why i think there needs to be a change.

        The label doesnt bother me.

JL is not a protected class. It doesnt make me feel like Im being pigeonholed.

        Call me what ya want...

I mean i know what i call certain people on this board....

Yep. It's not like you don't have a legitimate case to present to Les. It would be real interesting to hear his response to the mediocrity, why it has continued year after year, and what he is or would do to correct it.

I don't feel because of the era we are in that he has answered many questions on the mediocrity.

I hear his answer is injuries, but i feel there needs to be the followups discussed here.

The other recent thing we havent discussed is the number of assistants that have come and gone during the tenure, and the only constant has been the 4th and 5th place finishes.

Ahhhhh the labels and crowds we all seem to fall under.......Pro JL, Anti JL, fire him, keep him, pro Wessler, anti Theobald. I don't give a rip either way.

Label me "pro-accountability". And when a basketball program is showing glaring signs of weakness, lack of talent, and fan apathy, who are the people that should be held accountable?

Accountable to whom? To you? Why?
If you don't like what you see, you should just stop going to games, or donating. Bradley is a private institution and is not accountable to everyone.

I will say I've supported Les all along. When I heard TB was going to be out this year the first game of the year, I knew it was going to be a LONG year and then when SM went out I knew the year was going to worsen to the point that I wanted baseball season here but I still support Les.... I don't blame injuries at all but knew all long this wasn't going to be the NONE us wanted at all... I do wish for us to start using the offense we used in 2006 since we do have Prosser now and is getting better but it could be too late but I do believe we would be top 3 with those 2 players... I know we are in a different league than duke but I think they would still be undefeated with Irving and I do NOT like Duke but JMO..... GO BRAVES

                        Here's a big picture thought ...

Imagine that a different head coach is at Bradley University. You can think this is 1 month away or 50 years from now. Unless you are quite one of our eldest posters, Bradley will sometime have a different head coach in your lifetime.

No matter what side you're on about now, won't you still be here on the message board, wanting to chat about Bradley basketball, hoping that NCAA tournament appearances are on the way every season?

Do any of you honestly think that the "pro-Les" side are just going to stop following BU hoops, stop donating to the school and never visit the board again if he's let go now or at some point in the future? On the flip, do you think that any of the "anti-Les" crew are going to stop watching BU hoops entirely if he's retained 1, 2 or 10 more years?

If there's anyone that really falls in either camp, they were never a true Bradley fan anyway. Everyone wants a successful coach, team, program, etc. Whatever the standards you define that by, so be it. But still, all the loyal posters are still going to be here.

                        Right???
                        Go Braves!

Like I stated on another thread last night, speculating if there is some indication or credible information around is one thing. Speculating based on nothing is quite the other. When people start to speculate on why the coaches son is not playing here, based solely on the "fact" that he won't be here next year when not even a rumor of a possible coaching change has been reported anywhere is just plain stupid!

Why even speculate on something that hasn't even been suggested yet?

It is a total different situation from Greg McDermott, so why even bring that up? Ty Les made his decision a year ago, before any of this stuff that people are using as justification to fire JL.

I think it is actually time to call a time out. Both sides have stated their positions, and the "fire Jim Les" side seems to think they must keep repeating theirs, starting new threads, and shouting down anyone else.

So unless someone actually has some factual information, or something new, this discussion has reached the end.
Thank you! Until KW, DR, Snell or JG names some actual sources that indicate there might be a coaching change at the end of the season, I will not believe that anyone other than Les will be back here next year coaching a hopefully fully healthy team back to at least the top 3 or 4 of the Valley. Case closed.

I don't think any crow will be served. Those who are speculating now that Les could be gone know no more than the rest of us who feel he will be back. Again, I and others are just looking for some factual information indicating that Les will not be back next year. And if he is fired, I don't think there would be much indication until the day the announcement is made. But until then, I see no reason why Les wouldn't be back for at least one more year to see what he can do with a full team intact.

And I don't see the anti-Wessler posts going away anytime soon here either. Those are a tradition here, and for good reason!

here's why I can't see a turnaround for an extended time:
I felt helpless and disappointed after last game's 2nd half which most every person with hoops knowledge would question what the coach was thinking.
The lack of consistency is what bothers me.We have stretches of playing really well, but then you see a very different team the rest of the time. Why has that happened since 2007? Partly due to injuries during the season, but not the main reason. We see how well the teams can be, but only for a few games.
While happy with the turnaround after an 0-11 start, I wonder why we didn't play consistently well before. Then we go out and play like a bottom-half Valley team on Tuesday, and there you go - that was our stretch of good basketball. Last season, we had a few outstanding games. Why couldn't we play that way for most of the season?
Coach Les will be expected to be consistently good next season - not just for stretches, but for the entire season. If he does that, it will exceed my expectations. And I don't mind being called a fool for it.
I don't see why people keep blasting this team for this particular game! Winning it would have not made one shred of difference of how this season turns out. We still are locked in the play-in round, and of course a 9-18 team is not going to play consistently for long stretches. I may agree with you on a few stretches over the last few years that consistency has been our biggest problem, but this last game against UNI would not have turned the season around.

Our season is done, finished, outside of one last chance in St. Louis to perform a miracle. And btw, UNI is not a bottom-half Valley team. Despite their key injury they already have enough wins for an NIT appearance at the very least. So this is not a disasterous loss. Those have already occurred, home losses against EIU, SIU and ISU red. So why this game against UNI would be any worse than those, I have no clue!
