Don't know if anyone pointed this out but KW gives his detailed explanation OTOB.

I think it goes a long way in clearing up alot of questions and complaints about what he opinied.

Good question to start the thread, Lefty.

I don't know that there's ever "perfect" timing to broach the subject of a coach's job status. There's no perfect "formula" either (eg: Always wait till the last game has been played, or always wait till a team is out of the race, etc.). Each situation is different, surrounded by different circumstances. My thought process has been this:

I started by determining to give Les, his staff and the team reasonable time to sort things out, grow, step forward, step back, shift forward again ... By mid-January, the struggles were clear. Since then, I've been doing a lot of research, also talking to quite a few trustworthy sources with varying perspectives and insights. (And yes, I've heard the rumors many of you have heard. All I can say about those is that the more significant ones, if provable, would be reported. Make of that what you will. Some rumors are more credible than others, but they're still rumors, and I'm not going to stake my reputation on unsubstantiated chatter.) I decided, though, not to start in on this subject publicly till February. Right? Wrong? I don't know. But it's not my nature to be hasty. That doesn't mean I'm immune to a rash thought or proclamation out of the blue. But I try not to let it enter my columns. I think the readers are owed that. I've seen a good number of columnists leap because they want to lead the rip parade. I don't want to be that. I want readers to be able to trust not only the facts I report, but that the opinions I offer aren't just off the cuff, uninformed rants going for a cheap thrill. So I sat back, continued to observe and collect and think.

February came, and BU was playing better. I was glad to see it. That didn't change the opinions I have formed, and I don't think it has changed the opinions of the inner circle that will make a decision on Les's future. But when the team is winning three of four (and the one loss is to the first-place team, on the road, in one of the Braves' best performances of the season), that's not an appropriate time to address the subject, either. On the other hand, when the performance took a big step back into the muck, as it did Tuesday against UNI, well, opportunity presented itself. So I used it. What I wrote after the game is exactly what I meant: This was a reminder that all is not well with the program, and with a relatively brief interlude in the middle of his tenure, Les's career here has fallen short of expectations.

Based on what I've been told, what I've learned and what I've observed, I believe it's likely Les will be gone -- one way or another -- soon after Bradley's season is over.

He certainly is talking like he knows something, but is he telling the truth? I guess we will find out in 3 weeks. He will either be right, or be made to look like a fool.

Not sure how someone that has offered an opinion or educated guess based on what he is hearing and drawn conclusion from would look like a fool if he is wrong. No more then he would be "right" if it happens.

Its an opinion and it can't be right or wrong....

This is where reading comprehension is a wonderful skill. He used words "likely" "unofficial" and "nothing is set in stone" all meaning they are HIS OPINION. You pointed out 2 people out of how many members on this website that thought it was fact?? Let alone the entire readership of the PJ Star that would have possibly read the column?

I didn't see "unofficial" or "nothing is set in stone" anywhere in his original article, only the following statement regarding the issue at hand.....

"And yes, they reminded us why Jim Les??™ days remaining as head coach likely number fewer than 20."

I'll tell you one thing KW is doing his job. How many of you opened up and read his article? I know I stopped reading his garbage because I like the facts more then opinions. That is probably why I stopped reading news papers all together because they have become more of a soap opera then a fact finding, let's find and expose the truth that journalistic products use to be known for and respected. Now the owners of the media are just looking for advertising dollars to make their share holders wealthier. KW is doing nothing more then justifying his salary. I also believe he does not like JL so his pieces are very easy for him to write.

His response on the forum "what I've heard, what I've learned, yadda yadda yadda" implies a little more than a hunch. He's either got info or he doesn't. We'll find out.

Maybe I'm missing some cryptic hidden message, but there is nothing in KW's message board post that adds anything to this. He does not verify this story one bit. It is still unsubstantiated rumor, which he himself has condemned.

Not sure why there is so much confusion over this post. It is a fact that KW used the word LIKELY to have fewer than 20 days. He DID NOT say he would be gone in 20 days. I bet he doesn't know if JL will survive anymore then the rest of us. I will say like someone else on here said. I'm not anti JL in fact I like him as a person but I don't see where we are catching the rest of the league.Unless I'm missing something the other 9 have passed us and that just doesn't work for alot of us.Yes we can use injuries as an excuse but the league coaches still picked us in the 4 or 5 spot and that was before the season and injuries. How can we be satisfied with that?
