(Just kidding....I liked this BNC quote from another thread..with a season like this, just got to keep a sense of humor!)
You"re absolutely right. What is the point in coming on here, from both sides of the issue, and start attacking people pre-emptively? From the "people are going to blame Les for everything" to the sarcastic "upset we lost? you must be a hater!" garbage. THAT is why the two sides are so so divisive, because of the mocking of other's opinions.

That isn't specific to Jim Les. It's that way in college hoops, football, the NFL, NBA, etc. etc. Your record is what it says it is.
I'm not sure that's what I said, but ok.

Very good point. People are defensive for some weird reason and very, very, very quick to label and judge. I just do not get that.

Why all the premptive strikes and jumping all over what we "think" people are going to say or do? Just have the discussion for what it's worth. Making it personal is just goofy.

Shaun...Les gets paid. Be happy posters don't call out players on a regular basis. Its Jims team and he gets paid well to take the heat.

We could be ripping individual players but credit the posters for, the most part, laying off specific guys.

Les HAS to shoulder the blame in a college game.

IF this was a Pro team the players would be getting their fair share of the balme.

I got your sarcasm. But you were doing the "this is what everyone will say" thing when, in fact, no one even said it

I would say the President of the university.

However, on a game-to-game basis, I'd say the entire coaching staff and the players deserve to share the credit for the wins and the blame for the losses.

For $450K a year, you can yell at me about basketball games all you want!

If it's the president, then what should the board do if the program underperforms?

How about a season-by-season basis? Who's accountable for the performance of the basketball program?

I don't think this is true. If internet message boards existed the last few years of the Stowell era, there would have been every bit as much dissension related to whether to stay with a coaching legend who had never won anything, or make a change. You may have been too young to know this, but there was a lot of dissension, and many people were very upset (and remain so today) about the firing of Joe Stowell.
There was significant dissension in 1986 with the way Dick Versace was treated. He was given a 1 year contract, and told it would not be renewed beyond that under any circumstances. That was the most ludicrous decision I can think of in the history of college basketball. How is a coach supposed to recruit or even coach when everyone knows he will be gone the next year?
And even the dismissal of Jim Molinari was contentious, and there remain a number of solid BU supporters who have never return to Bradley games in protest over the firsing of Jim.

Yes.....they should have fired the coach after his first season since the team underperformed.

I'm not sure what you want to hear that hasn't been said here before. JL has a losing record (most of which was with another coaches' players), CB is responsible for the most successful Bradley season in many years, JL is the reason for all of the losses, and the players/assistant coaches were great in the wins.

By the way....what exactly is underperforming when you lose two of your three best players?

I'm positive it's somehow JL's fault the internet wasn't as prominent back then.

Last place in the conference this year.

A 16-15 record last year with 3 guys that were pre-season All-conference selections this season.

Are you happy with either of these results? I'll hang up and listen.

If he would have won early on in the Les era, who would have gotten the credit? Molinari? Doubtful. I believe we were picked to finish 2nd in Jim's 2nd year - haven't been picked that high since.

Regarding 'his' players - Shouldn't the record be markedly better than the predecessor, not worse, if the players are so much better? The record is worse, especially the Missouri Valley and home records.

After this season, it looks like the record might be better for the first four years than the last 5.

Indiana St went 9-9 last year with more injuries than BU has this year. Do you think we're a 3-13 team? We have the league's leading scorer you know.

Should a coach ever be replaced? If so, when? Was David Broski wrong in dismissing Jim Molinari? Will Joanne Glasser and Michael Cross be wrong if they dismiss Jim Les?

That's at least twice I've seen you say this Lakeview. I'm curious as to why you think this. It seems Les was quite the "uniter" during and after the year BU went to the Sweet 16. IMO, Dick Versace may have been the most divisive coach in BU history.

Umm, 9 years is 2+ recruiting classes, I dont see where you get the notion that "most of that is with other coaches' players"

Yes his first 3 years were the worst, but looking at the overall record(not counting this year) that doesnt tell the whole story. The best he has finished is 4 games over .500 in the league, worst was 6 games under. Average that out and its 2 games under.... which was actually better than his actual winning percentage in conference of 4 games under .500. My opinion though, everyone is entitled to their own
