  • The New Braves

Just havin' a little fun with this, since we, as BU fans, have been havin' a little fun the last 4 games!

Considering how well we've been playing the past 4 games, how many total Valley games do you think we would win if we played like this for the entire Valley season? Where would we finish in the league standings? Maybe if we knew that we would not have the services of TB & SM 3 months before the 1st game, we would have come together much more quickly.

That's a tough one and people will dispute whatever is said. But if we had SM and TB healthy, IMO we'd be sitting at 20 wins right now and 11-4 in the MVC.
If we had to play all those early games again and didn't have TB and SM, but were playing as well as we are now, I think maybe we could win 6 or 7 of the ones we lost. That would make our record now 15-11.

I think what he was getting at was, had Taylor and Sam's injuries been known before the season, giving the team more time to gel and come together, would we be in the same boat or better? Cause think about it: The injuries came out right before the season started for Taylor and right before the conference season for Sam but he was playing injured pretty much the whole non con schedule. Throw in DSE having the knee problems right before the conference slate... Had the injuries been known before the season started would this team have come into its own earlier than now? I think its a tough question, but I feel that some of the games that were winnable games could have been won instead of lost down the stretch if they had come together sooner. But you play the hand you are dealt and know the only thing to do is try to win out and take a whole lot of momentum into St. Louis and try to be one of the few teams ever to go Thursday-Sunday!

Yes, that was what I was thinking. I think I jumped the gun too early and underestimated the tall order for JL to come up with a style that suited this team in such a short time. He's been learning on the go, really.
I'm just happy to see consistent play for a stretch (albeit 4 games), and hopefully we'll continue to play this way the rest of the season.
I chose 9-9 because that was our record last season with TB & SM. But we now have JP, and the way that DSE and AW are playing lately, we don't go down easily. I see the fire, intensity, and confidence rising in these guys!!!

Meet the new Braves, same as the old Braves (at least tonight vs UNI)...
The new Braves picked up their basketball and played,
the same way the old Braves played.

This time, I won't get fooled again!

We were way better tonight than we were in any of the games I saw this season prior to the Creighton game.

Next year we have to get started earlier If not you can't expect to be in the top 6-7.You just can't give up so many games in a row we just have to "click" sooner
