  • POB's Pro Debut

I just watched the Lakers-Warriors game, and POB came in for the last 6 minutes or so of garbage time... He deflected a pass that lead to a GS fast break, but other than that didn't do much. Took an ill-advised turn around jumpshot from about 19 feet out, and then just missed a hook a couple minutes after that.

pob played 4 minutes and was 0 for 2 from the field. no rebounds or block shots.was basically in at garbage time. everyone has to start someplace.

Danny Granger had a bad night. He was just 2-10 shooting and scored just 7 points. He was also whistled for a flagrant foul that caused Gerald Wallace to fall awkwardly and injure his head and neck. He left the game.

Granger is one of 3 former Bradley guys in the NBA in addition to POB and Anthony Parker.
The entire 10-team MVC has a total of 5 former players playing in the NBA. The other 2- Troy Hudson had a pretty good game last night (15 points), and Kyle Korver had just 6.

"... NELSON opening statement: Well, so much for good starts. I???‚¬?„?m obviously very disappointed with our performance and our energy and whatever else went on out there. I just didn???‚¬?„?t expect that kind of performance.
We reverted back to the way we played last year and looked like the same team or worse. Started off with the free throws???‚¬???that???‚¬?„?s disappointing enough.
I think the team is telling me that I???‚¬?„?m going to have to make some changes in the line-up or changes in the way that we???‚¬?„?re approaching some things. Defensively, rebounding-wise, almost any way you can cut it, we were poor tonight.

We???‚¬?„?ve been dodging bullets, probably, in training camp, playing against line-ups that were less than NBA quality in the pre-season and maybe I got a false impression here of the team.
But no more. I???‚¬?„?m wide awake. Don???‚¬?„?t know exactly what???‚¬?„?s going to happen. But I think we need to seriously think about what we???‚¬?„?re doing and how we???‚¬?„?re playing with whom.
My flash analysis: That was a rookie, Mike Montgomery-style coaching mistake, though I was drawn in a little bit???‚¬???only a little bit???‚¬???by the Warriors???‚¬?„? nice pre-season run, too. That was dumb of me and Nelson.
Really, what means more: A players???‚¬?„? whole weird career or seven games against third-stringers in October? Duh!
The Warriors are???‚¬?¦ who we think they are. They are what they???‚¬?„?ve always been???‚¬???too small, too soft, too undisciplined, too Warrior-like. Nelson by himself wasn???‚¬?„?t going to change that. Isn???‚¬?„?t going to change that.
He might not make big line-up moves now, but I think Patrick O???‚¬?„?Bryant is somebody to watch. I???‚¬?„?ve said it before and I???‚¬?„?ll keep saying it (and I think Nelson is somebody who might start thinking similarly): Murphy is not a winning player. O???‚¬?„?Bryant might be. Keep an eye out on this spot, with either O???‚¬?„?Bryant or Andris Biedrins.

Well Pat did make the "Patrick O'Bryant is better than Danny Granger Fan Club" group on facebook, so I guess comparison is fair.
