Missouri State owns a 27-17 lead in the all-time series and the Bears join Creighton (42-41) as the only two league teams with winning records against Bradley ... Missouri State also owns a 15-4 home record against Bradley, but the Braves have split their first two trips to the three-year-old JQH Arena ... Ninth-year Bradley head coach Jim Les is 7-10 all-time against Missouri State, 1-7 on the road against the Bears and 3-2 against third-year MSU head coach Cuonzo Martin
PAINT POINTS
Bradley has outscored the opposition, 586-548, in the paint this season, but when Missouri State visited Jan. 16, the Bears won the interior battle, 40-28, in their 11-point victory ... Since that game, Bradley has won the paint fight in five of the last six games with a total 192-136 margin.
CALENDAR EFFECT
January has by far been the coldest month for ninth-year Bradley head coach Jim Les ... The Braves are 33-51 (.393) in January under Les, while playing 51 of those 84 games without the likes of Phillip Gilbert (missed nine January games due to injury), Jeremy Crouch (eight), Daniel Ruffin (six) Will Egolf (eight), Andrew Warren (eight), Dodie Dunson (10), Dyricus Simms-Edwards (two), Taylor Brown (10) and Sam Maniscalco (10) -- 71 individual games missed ... Aided by its 2-0 record so far this month, February is Les' winningest month (38-27, .585) and is second only to November (.660) by percentage ... Not coincidentally, the Braves have been without the above nine players for just 22 February games due to injury: Warren (11), Egolf (eight), Dunson (nine), Brown (2) and Maniscalco (2) -- 32 individual games missed -- though Brown and Maniscalco will not return this season.
SLOW STARTS
Bradley has started slow throughout this Valley season ... Saturday's 35-29 halftime lead versus Southern Illinois marked Bradley's first Valley first half with more than 32 points and the Braves shot 51.9 percent (14-27) from the field in the first half against the Salukis ... In the first 12 MVC games, the Braves were averaging 25.1 points on 38.4 percent (114-297) shooting from the field in the first 20 minutes ... Making Bradley's first-half situation worse, the 12 Valley opponents had averaged 33.5 points on 45.5 percent (153-336) in the opening frame ... Bradley trailed at halftime in nine of the first 12 Valley games, facing an average deficit of 8.4 points ... Conversely, Bradley averaged 38.0 points on 45.5 percent (157-345) shooting in the first 12 Valley second halves ... Bradley's 12 Valley opponents averaged 37.6 points in the second halves and the Braves outscored the opposition in the second half five times and played them even in two other second halves.
THE TURNOVER STORY
Turnovers have been a telling statistic in Bradley's outcomes this season ... Bradley is 7-4 when it commits fewer turnovers than the opposition, but 1-12 when they commit at least as many turnovers as the opposition this year ... In Bradley's eight wins, the Braves have averaged just 11.6 turnovers per game, while forcing an average of 16.9 turnovers by the opposition ... In the 16 losses, however, Bradley's turnover average is slightly higher at 13.4 per game, but the Braves have forced only 11.3 miscues ... The Braves are forcing only 10.5 turnovers in conference action ... Further compounding the issue, the opposition has outscored Bradley 172-137 in points off turnovers in the first 13 conference games.
LOOKING AHEAD
Bradley will return home for two consecutive games, beginning Saturday night when the Braves host Evansville in the annual Hall of Fame Game ... Two ticket promos will be in place for the final three home games: $16 Family Pack (2 adults, 2 youth) and $4 Ceiling Fan (top 10 rows) will be available for purchase on game days only at the Carver Arena and Renaissance Coliseum box offices.
