  • Best Recruiting Class

Let me ask a trivia question regarding top recruiting classes....

One ACC team, which already had two 4-Star kids from 2007,
landed THREE 5-Star kids in 2008, was ranked as the TOP recruiting class in the nation in 2008 and those THREE 5-Star recruits are more 5-Star kids than Duke & UNC combined had that year!
Then in 2009 they added another 4-Star kid & in 2010 they had FIVE more 4-Star kids....

so....I would ask just how good should this "mystery team" be doing right now as a result of all those TOP recruits???

Answer -- it's Wake Forest. They got hammered again today by Maryland to go 1-7 in the ACC and 8-15 overall, dropping their RPI to 260 - which is not only worse than Bradley's but worse than any team in the MVC!!

So who says good recruiting classes mean success???

I never subscribe to recruiting = results. But you are being disingenuous.

Dino Gaudio (who succeeded Prosser immediately after his death) went 61-31 in 3 years (including 27-21 in the ACC with a 2nd place finish) with that talent. 2 All-Americans during said stretch are also playing in the NBA right now.

I would not read much into WF's results this year. Bzdelik was a bizarre hire, because he's a Princeton "O" guy. Well-respected in the coaching community too. In fact, Coach K probably played a big role in getting him the job at Wake.

disingenuous?? nothing I said is false....everything's true...
they have had better recruiting by whatever standard you want to use for the last 4-5 years than most ACC teams and than most teams in the nation period...
All ACC teams lose talent to the NBA, so that's not why Wake is bad, and the fact that they changed coaches plays right into my precise point --
it not only hasn't worked, but it has obviously hurt them big time...especially when you look at the recruiting class Bzdelik has locked up so far...a 2-Star and a 1-Star guy and that's all........
They are going to be really bad well into the future......and pulling the plug of Gaudio and canning only hurt them BIG TIME
