Just had one at my place northwest of Chicago. Extremely intense snow with near zero visability and wind gusts over 50 mph! There's no way we had the winds like this with the 1979 and 1999 storms!
Thunder and lightning in snowstorms always freaks me out. 3 years ago I was driving down to Bradley from home during the superbowl and we hit a terrible snowstorm near Dwight, Illinois. It got so bad that we couldn't see more than 10 feet in front of us and I had to use the ridges in the shoulder to know if I was on the road or not. It was right outside Dwight when our radio slowly faded out and our car was entirely consumed in light. We all lost our senses briefly and the next thing you know we were in a ditch. Thankfully everyone was ok, but I just pray everyone stays safe in conditions like this.

Ooooh! Wild! Glad you all were okay.
Just had another lightning strike and thunderclap right over me about ten minutes ago. We also had a 61 mph wind gust nearby! Just like severe thunderstorms with snow.
