My point was that there were several calls made, whether Jank was justified due to a bad call. Using profanity could have cost his team a comeback in the end. Bad officiating, but u can't show up the refs.
JL's stomping tirade was more bad timing, but coming off of his warning and how the officials interpreted his actions on the heels of another bad call = technical foul. He was stomping, and outside the box after a warning.
What lost this game was several factors. One was the 24 and 17 by Carmichael, he had no equal on the floor. The other was the sun finally coming out for ISU. After clanking brick after brick, enuf to rebuild Renaissance, Cousin hit a 3, Ekey a 3, Wilkins a 3. Wilkins gets a outback and foul. In OT Hill becomes a beast. Couple that with a bad shooting game for AW until the end. No post toughness, missed FTs. Poor decision making.....and BU still had a chance to win. Not sure if ISU wanted it more or AW just didn't have as much help as Carmichael. But ISU fought back and stole one on bad officiating and being a deeper team. Can't say more talented because both teams are awful at this point.
I am not saying that Jank did this, but there are also a lot of times that a coach can fire up a team and show that team that he is into the game and on their side by getting a "T".
Dick Versace was a master of that tactic!

In all fairness...Jank got T'd (and deserved it) on a very bad call that happened right in front of me--Hill did not commit and offensive foul, and they took his basket away and called a charge and a T--Jank went out of the box and cussed & got his ( I think first ever? ) T. JL was warned about coming out of the box, and was way out on the floor yelling & stomping when he got his T--terrible time to do it regarless of the reason--likely cost us the game in hindsight--but I can't blame the officials for Les being stupid at that time in the game. Then, watching the tape...Egolf had little/no contact on the last play of regulation but got the call & the 2 free throws to send it to OT--break for us--more bad officiating (both ways)--but bottom line--we beat ourselves (again) it's time to pull the plug on Les.
So Les was way out on the floor? Really?
And now we are justifying Jank's T because it was a bad call. Got it. Carry on.
From where I sit, right behind the BU bench, it looked like he was barely across the sideline when the technical occurred. However, that shouldn't even be relevant to this discussion, because the ref blew his whistle and called the technical with his back toward Jim. He didn't even look to see where he was or what he was doing. He then came over to Jim and said to him "I called it because you stomped your foot". It was not called for stepping over the line, or anything else. And he didn't care if the foot-stomp was directed toward Will to get his attention to get up and get back on defense, and not in any way directed toward the officials.
When the official realized his mistake, he could have wiped out the call, but instead he turned his back on Jim, and walked away.
And now we are justifying Jank's T because it was a bad call. Got it. Carry on.
Jank without question deserved the T---I would hope Les would have been smarter at that point of the game---but let's keep giving Les more chances and making excuses for him. Carry on.

Not sure I am making excuses for anyone. From where I sat Les was partially in, partially out, which I believe means you are in. But the T was for stomping his foot, as T said. I wonder if that is specified in the rules for a bench warning. If it is, Les deserved the T.
It looked to me like he was half in half out, which I think means you are in. And quite honestly, what WE did on that play was so dumb I could hardly believe my eyes.
Which ref called the T?
Everything else in your post I pretty much agree. We played really well at times but our breakdowns are legendary.
BNC not sure what you mean when you say' he was half in half out which means you are in." IF you are talking about the coaches box and I think you are, you are wrong. If he is half in half out he IS OUT. I didn't agree with the "T" UNLES it was because he was out of the box and only the official who made the call can tell us why the "T" and thats going to happen. If it was because of stomping his foot,it was a horrible call. JL was stomping to get Wills attention to get down the floor. The official who called the "T" heard the stomping and did not see JL trying to get Wills arse going to the defensive end of the floor. Will was taking his merry time probably because he botched up that situation. Bottom line MAKE FREE THROWS and we win no OT.
that was one of the most horribly missed calls I have ever witnessed....
the ball is tossed to Rubin, who gets bumped while standing flat-footed with both feet planted and holding the ball...
he gets knocked off balance, and has to shuffle his feet backwards taking at least TWO full steps from his flat-footed planted position -- all while holding onto the ball, then he unloads the ball while in the midst of taking the third backwards step...and the only call that was made was for the ref to hear something on the sidelines and whistle a "T" on JL....
Even Rubin knew he had traveled and stopped playing and looked for the whistle that never came...
Anyone who says refs don't lose games for teams has got to be either lying or stupid.
I don't think I'm" lying or stupid" but I will tell you what loses games. Missing 4 free throws in the guts of a game and if you don't believe that someone has to be lying or STUPID.
They didn't lose this game for us......we lost it...you are up 8 with the ball and a 1:19 left? You have to win that game period.
For every call that went against us there was one against them just as bad and just as important....it was a poorly played and officiated game..
Lefty, I couldn't have said this any better. That game was probably the worst officiated game I've seen in years, but it was horrible for both teams. Make one FT in the guts of the gameand none of this is an issue.
I didn't get a good look at it on Channelsurfing, but it looked to me like JL had come out on the floor a little while the game was going on when he stomped or did whatever caught the eye of the official. My guess is when the offficial turned around to see what was being done by JL, and saw JL in what appeared to me to be on the floor, the T flew....
At the end of the day, poor play by DD and DSE, miserable free throw shooting, turnovers, stupid fouls, getting away from what gave BU the big leads in the game, chucking up shots, not getting enough touches for AW for the last 33 minutes of the FH, WE's gaffe, DD launching 3's when he can't make FT's....
This was a catastrophe waiting to happen. Like watching a car wreck, everything moved in slow motion to the inevitable end.
BU put itself in a position to be punished by bad officiating.....period.....
BTW....Officials gave BU every chance to put this away in the 2H with all the fouls they called on ISU after spanking BU in the FH ...
AZ...Jim was facing our basket...the ref was darn near to midcourt and NEVER looked at JL. He heard JL stomp his foot and raised his arms to T him up then turned toward JL.
Had he turned to look at what JL was stomping about he could have seen Jim waving his arms at WE to get up and get back in the game.....the ball had been fumbled and had Will got up right away he might have recovered it for an EASY score.

Jim WAS frustrated but with Will NOT the ref.
That is exactly the way I saw the situation as well!

That is exactly what happened. I don't believe JL deserved the T but it sure was costly.

The official finally looked at Jim and did some stomping of HIS foot motion to show Jim why he got the T. So the T appeared to be for what he heard becuase had he looked he would have noticed, like you said, Jim was CLEARLY telling WE to get up.
