  • Jim Les Live Radio Show 10-30-06

I missed it. I got caught by surprise and didn't know about it.

May dad told me bits and pieces of it. I may have some of this wrong. Maybe someone else caught it and can give more details (maybe more accurate, too).

Jim Les talked about emotions on NCAA Selection Sunday. Feeling of maybe being left out when SIU got a lower seed than expected. Then the feeling when got in. Then watching tapes of Kansas (the first of the KU/Texas B12 Conf Trny Champ game). Then more tapes... then noticing how nobody in the B12 plays defense like the MVC and how they don't shut down passing lanes. They didn't have much time and just figured they would go with it - trying to shut them down with our defense. Then he mentioned how Forrester projected if BU gets by KU, the next opponent would be a lock to be Pitt and they have some weaknesses to be exploited too.

Maybe someone can help me here.

Maybe the show will be archived somewhere to listen to in the future.

I didn't know the coach's show had begun. Here is a link to where these shows are archived, and there isn't opne for Oct. 30. Just the ones from last season.
If anyone knows why it wasn't archived, let us know.

DC - do you know why the NCAA games are not available to listen to at bubraves.com/audioarchives?

I watched and listened to the tv, but would love to listen to Snell and Stowell.

I would like to add Coach Les talked about the players some... and he had some great things to say about JC. On how he has really worked on his game and make himself more of a complete team player (like he was his Freshman year). Vision to see the whole floor - passing - not dwelling on hitting his first shot.

Could it be something to do with the NCAA having some kind of exclusive rights?

Jim and the staff have been talking highly of JC since the end of the summer. So far it looks and sounds like JC has done the things that most BU fans thought had to be done for him to work his way back into a significant role - Improve on defense, get stronger/in better shape, stay confident with the jump shot. Lets hope he stays healthy and he can carry it into the regular season. It will be a very nice lift for us if he can.

Got a chance to attend the Better Banks event just prior to the Jim Les show at Peoria Country Club Monday night. This is the 4th year Jim has spoken to the group and as always it was a blast. This year to, Dave Snell kicked it off and both provided insight from the event down in St. Louis as they had driven straight to the event at Peoria Country Club.

Les had nothing but good things to say about Crouch. He said he understood while last year didn't go how he wanted it to, big things were going to be expected of him this year. He said his work in the offseason has been great.

A question was asked about Andrews and his freethrow shooting. I guess that he has to end practice everyday by making 50 free throws or 10 in a row, whichever happens first. He said that they expect alot out of Andrews and referred back to the first 8 games without Patrick and how well he played.

The question was asked about Adams and Sam's health. Sam is participating in practice in everything but contact drills. Doctor's have given him the okay on everything but any potential contact that could take place. Danny will be held out of practice up until the week of the Depaul game just to be on the safe side.

It was a neat event again to talk to the coach and Snell. After they spoke, there were drinks and food and for the first time they did the Jim Les show live from the event. You could sit and listen and even ask questions live.

                Or any comments from Buescher?
