I really don't want to see DSE/WL/JP leave. I don't see how people could think these guys won't be valuable to this team for the next few seasons. These 3 guys are not superstars, but they are pretty good IMO, work very hard, and have the desire to win that you need.

Sure - a few guys on the current team have not panned out/improved much since their arrival on the Hilltop (WE, AT to name a few).
But if you look at our guards' progression from Freshman to Junior/senior, would you want guys like JC, SM, AW to have left after their first couple seasons, seeing how they turned out?

I dont' think we've seen the best of DSE this season...he's had a trying sophomore campaign.
Surround these guys with another good outside shooter (besides Sammy) and a big that can score, and you'll see how valuable these guys like DSE and WL can be. And to me, JP is the best freshman big we've had in quite some time.

Nope. There's not one guy on the roster that has me saying 'man, what will we do when he's gone?' or 'how are we going to replace this guy?'. We're 0-9, what could we possibly be clinging to?

Of course they're not superstars. They're only two freshmen and a sophomore. Give them time to grow and get some talent and coaching around them and I think they all have as good of a chance as most anybody ever brought into the program to blossom into stars (maybe just not SUPERstars).

          Right on, B4L!
They (WL/DSE) need to work on the 8-12 foot floaters though, and jump shots to be really tough to defend.

I wonder what we do if SM does get a redshirt and can play next year and nobody leaves and TB does get cleared to play. If those three things happen, we are one over our scholarship limit of 13. What do you do then?

I can assure you that by next fall we will not be one scholarship over the limit. These things always have a way of being taken care of.

What will I do with all this extra money? It shouldn't be difficult to free up a scholarship from a team with less than 10 wins.

I'd be very surprised if JP leaves. I agree that DSE, WL, and JP are the most valuable pieces right now. It would hurt to see them leave after a year or two of improvement.
I can do all things through pasta, which strengthens me.

Ditto. You'd have to be Ray Charles not to see which scholarship(s) will become available next season.

Not true- I don't think there is anything specific known other than the scholarship situation will even out by next year. It always does.

It's obvious that at least one, likely more, of the players on our current roster will not be back next year. After sitting on the bench for an entire year when the team is in dead last, would you want to come back? Or do you think you may realize you'd be much better off elsewhere?
This is just the tip of the iceberg...

But I have to ask, if the sky isn't falling when you're on a collision course with the worst league performance in school history, when is it falling?
