I'm anxious to see him play tommorrow night....kind of
He'll be the one having a high quality game with the white jerseys all around him, because we will "pick our poison" and make them beat us by hitting (blatently wide open HORSE game) 3 point shots.
So -- here's a good question -- knowing how hard it is for any player to win the POW when his team's NOT winning...
who's it gonna be this week??
Here are, I think, some good candidates...the TOP five candidates are highlighted in my view
-Andrew Warren - BU has won both games this week, so gives AW a shot at the award. AW averaged 23 pts/7 rebs in his two games
-Dyricus Simms-Edwards - I know this selection is a long shot since he has to vault over Warren in consideration...but DSE had a weekly average of 20 pts, 5 rebs, 7 asst
-Creighton's Antoine Young had two games of 14pt/9asst & 21pt/7 asst but CU lost one of their two games
-Creighton's Doug McDermott has been the darling of whoever votes so he could get some consideration with games of 19pt/17reb & 15pt/10reb
-Drake had two wins with Rayvonte Rice getting 23 & 19 - so he's a possibility
-Evansville beat Missouri State but Colt Ryan only had 9 so I think he's out of the running this week
-ISU lost both games last week -- so did Indiana State so I'd be surprised if anyone there got consideration
-Weems is always in the running but MSU lost one of their games, and Weems only had games of 16 & 13 - both under his average!
-UNI won one and lost one last week but Anthony James had 18pt/10reb & 14pt/11reb so he'll get some votes
-SIU -- ha, ha...if any Saluki wins I am gonna demand a recount
-as usual Wichita has balanced production so they don't ever land this award but quite honestly nobody among the Shockers actually had TWO good games, and it didn't take much to beat both ISU's who are reeling right now...
SO -- my unbiased vote would definitely go to Andrew Warren who totally deserves it this week!!!
McDermott is deserving of the NOW
Yes -- Andrew does win this week!!!
and Rayvonte Rice is NOW overcoming a couple monster games by Doug McDermott -- but obviously Drake winning twice seems to be the clincher..
Wonder how many times Andrew would have won the POW if BU had a lot more wins??
