  • West Virginia player quits in middle of game

Sophomore Dan Jennings of West Virginia walked off the bench and left the floor in the middle of West Virginia's game Sunday against South Florida.-

Initially Huggins refused to comment on the future of the player, but this morning it's being reported that Jennings is no longer a member of the team.

He was probably unhappy with his skimpy playing time despite WVU winning easily in many games.

One more Tennessee player in possible trouble-
Tennessee officials say Volunteers junior forward Renaldo Woolridge did not commit any NCAA violation when he visited a Knoxville bar over the weekend.

A spokesman says the Tennessee athletics department is looking into whether a Volunteers basketball player received free use of a Knoxville bar to film a music video, which may be an NCAA violation.
Athletics spokesman Jimmy Stanton declined further comment about a report in The Knoxville News Sentinel that Renaldo Woolridge received exclusive access to a portion of New Amsterdam Bar and Grill free of charge early Sunday morning to film a video.
Tennessee is currently under NCAA investigation for recruiting violations.
The News Sentinel reported that the use of the space was provided to Woolridge for free in an effort to support him and Tennessee athletics. Representatives of New Amsterdam did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press on Monday.

      Shocking!

With the WVU player, I certainly don't know his situation, but sometimes enough is enough. It probably wasn't the best way to leave the team, but there was likely a lot more going on with the player than we will ever hear.

This is Orlando Woolridge's kid correct? The former NBA player...

Why would he even need money?!

I saw a statistic the other day that 60% of NBA players (and 78% of NFL players) are either bankrupt or in financial distress within 3 years of ending their career. I'm guessing Orlando may be one of the unfortunate?

Renaldo Woolridge is not a player that has a great prospect of playing pro. So maybe he was hoping to hone his rap music skills for an alternate profession.

Sadly they don't have TO or he'd be crying about how that's his quarterback...

The kid's a decent kid and an honor student - but he finally figured out that unless he has a criminal record he does not belong on Huggins' team and isn't going to get any playing time.

Torn MCL. Told not to return by team trainers. Rip Culter for being bad instead of for getting injured.

A majority of players can play thru a slight MCL tear for the remainder of the game. If this had been a midseason game, then no harm done, but this was with the SUPER BOWL on the line, 1 of the biggest games in Bears history, and Cutler is making Millions of dollars a season. At least gut it out for 2 more quarters.

If Cutler was so hurt, why did he stand on the sidelines the rest of the game? If the doctors were so worried about his knee, why did they allow him to put that pressure on it for the next hour? Cutler showed no emotion at all about wanting to go back into the game, he just stood there with his same old smug face. Many die hard QBs that live for the game would have ignored the doctors opinion and played the rest out, especially if they had no limp at all. Bears will never succeed with Cutler, never.

I have to agree with him in the same sense that the Cowboys will never win a big one with Romo at QB...

He did try to play on it, the first couple series of the 2nd half. Have you ever tried to do anything on a weakened knee, let alone try to play quarterback in the NFL? Your MCL is the 2nd strongest ligament you have in your knee outside of your ACL. You blow your MCL, it usually comes with a tear in the meniscus as well since the 2 are attached on the inside portion of the knee. As a quarterback, you blow your MCL you cant plant, cut to get away from defenders, or step into a throw (not that Cutler does that anyway ) I was one of the people that questioned him when it happened, after finding out what it was I fully understand. As a former athletic training student he did the right thing and the doctors and ATs did their jobs. You run him out there with that knee in that condition, you run the risk of him getting the "unhappy triad" which is a torn ACL, MCL, and Meniscus which takes a year and a half plus to recover from.
