  • Favorite Moments: BU vs ISU

I am looking at Wednesday's game as BU's Super Bowl. Yes, this has been an extremely frustrating season, but I am trying to put any frustrations aside and try to really enjoy the game on Wednesday.

In the spirit of remembering the good times we have had in the BU-ISU rivalry, what are your favorite moments/games/stories from this rivalry?

    For me:
    1. In 2007, we beat ISU on their home floor on the same night they renamed the floor "Doug Collins Court". His son Chris (lead asst at Duke) even flew in just for the halftime ceremony. ISU started the game out 10-0 and BU won by about 10. There was an AWESOME contingent of BU fans at that game...loudest BU crowd I'd ever heard at Redbird Arena.

    2. In front of the 2nd largest crowd in Carver Arena history, BU knocks off 14-0 ISU to start the Valley season in 2009. The thing I remember most was TB coming off the bench and putting up 4 pts and 4 boards in the 1st half (2 pts on a sweet up and under reverse layup), then didn't play at all in the 2nd half. BU led big most of the game, but OE hit a few late 3's to keep the score respectable...56-52 I think. The atmosphere was incredible, and unfortunately we haven't seen an atmosphere since this game.

I have many, many others but wanted to hear what the rest of you had to say...

For me without a doubt it was the huge butt-whupping we laid on ISU to win the MVC Tournament on March 8, 1988 and head to the NCAA in Hersey Hawkins' senior year.

The noise was deafening and sometimes my ears still ring from that game...
A sellout that saw Bradley race to a big lead and pummel the Redbirds 83-59.

A lot of highlights, and some low-lights as well.
The Rob Dye rebound and turnaround 3-point shot to beat ISU at Redbird Arena 69-68 in 1999 (Dye's junior year) was pretty sweet. It was Bradley's first win in Normal since 1990.

By the way- only BU highlights allowed in this thread.

I kinda loved it the year Taphorn decided to dribble out the clock with ISU behind in the MVC tourney, that one was a lot of fun

Beating them at ISU on Dye's shot along with the win the Valley Tourney in Peoria was great.

But Id have to say just because it was recently, winning in Peoria v their undefeated team was great.

But that Taphorn dribble out was the best.

Big deficit in the first half.....Huge BU comeback.

Paul Wilson draining a 3 from 28 feet out.

Two favorite moments... a road trip (yes I know ISU is only 40 minutes away) with my dad and some guys from a local watering hole....

and being accused of trying to videotape an ISU practice under coach Donewald... lol
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

I loved that one too tornado but liked the home game in 1986 (I believe) when Les drove the floor for a layup at the buzzer. I had seats under that basket that year and we all went absolutely nuts! I still have dreams about that.

I remember that! Donewald was crazy and paranoid.

Who was the TV cameraman who Donewald threw out of a press conference a day before a big BU-ISU game because he was wearing a Bradley T-shirt, barely visible under his jacket! I think it was a WMBD cameraman, do you remember that incident?

I was in Normal for that game, and other than the BU fans in attendance, you could feel the air being sucked out of the gym when Rob drilled that shot.

                      It was fantastic.

I'd love to borrow someone's VHS of this game, if possible.

So many- My top 4 in no order

AP's senior year, with AP breaking Dan Muller's ankles on a crossover J in the lane to cap off a 10-0 run in the second half.

Sitting in the upper bowl of Redbird with BU faithful after Dye's dagger from 3.

Jim Les driving the lane for the winning layup.

Being in the Molinarmy in 93' chanting "Vandegaard has a low sperm count" Charging the court after the W......yhe beginning of a good run under Mo.
