I like that Prosser got 30 minutes: he had a great game!
I liked that DSE got 38 minutes and an a 7:2 assist to turnover ratio.
I liked that Eastman got 28 minutes, played aggressive offensively, and started shooting (and scored).
I like that BU finally out-rebounded a team.
I did not like that Milos took a critical 3-point shot at the end when he obviously was cold from sitting nearly the whole game.
I did not like that Lemon shot the final shot from 3-point range when his outside shooting is suspect (bad).
I thought either poor coaching, inexperienced young players (MK & WL), or poor decision-making stole a potential victory from BU at the end of the game.
But I am convinced that this team will be winning a game VERY soon!

As you recall, I stated BU was cursed a long time ago when the injuries started piling up, but I was shouted down by Forum members who didn't believe in silly curses!
It's the curse of Danny Granger hanging over BU and until it is exorcised, BU will continue to struggle....BUilding for the Future

BU wins 2 MVC games this season max (without a TB and/or SM resurrection)...ISU R and EU at home.
Sadly the ISU R home game is now a little more doubtful as they are coming off their first win vs SIU and should be pumped up to beat the bandwagon vs BU, while BU will feel the collars of their basketball jerseys continue to tighten.
On a related note, wonder why DR is reporting on the BU losing streak and 0-fer start records in the MVC in his articles? I thought he was the "good BU cop" and that type of anti JL/program slander would be done by KW, the "bad BU cop"....BUilding for the Future

I have a couple suggestions...maybe I'm being harsh...but I guess it might be time for a little harsh rules of reality!
I felt the game was put in jeapordy early because of the turnovers and the Evansville 3-pointers.
We had turnovers on each of our first TWO possessions, then on several more in the first 10-15 minutes.
Also -- we lead at the 15 minute mark 7-6, then SIX three pointers (by Cox, Jahr, Holmes, Ryan, Harris, then Jahr again) in the next 10 minutes..ran the score out to a double digit lead for Evansville.
SO -- here's my suggestion...
WE MUST take better care of the ball in the first 10 minutes, and we need to stop every single team we play from cashing in on early 3-pointers (just as SIU, InSU, MSU, and Creighton did)...
A) I'd instantly bench anyone who commits a turnover in the first five
minutes, especially one that is due to simply not paying attention like
dropping a ball out of bounds or dribbling it off your foot!
B) I'd instantly bench and go with a walk on if necessary -- any players
whose man drains a 3-pointer in the first 10-15 minutes of the game.
I know this sounds a little harsh and maybe isn't always fair as defenders do get lost on a switch or a screen, but seriously -- every game the past month has basically been lost in the first 10 minutes because of turnovers and hot 3-pt shooting by the opponent!
note that from the point where the lead hit double digits, all the way to the end of the game -- we outplayed and outscored them 54-47!Last edited by tornado; 01-24-2011, 09:39 AM.

We play the same D UNI played against us the S16 year. Leave open the guy who never makes 3's (ie JJ) and then wonder how that guy beat us..
I too don't think its good strategy to let them get started on 3s early in the game, but a change in philosophy may require a shot blocker to erase more inside opportunities. And while AT seems to be our best natural shot blocker since POB, he hides the pine for other reasons.
But we win this game if we had the sort of big that could grab an offensive board and Dunk that ball. But we don't have that guy (despite every other MVC team having one), and most scary, I'm not sure he's in the pipeline...
