Jordan Nelson had a great game last night for Lincoln HS...
he pumped in 9-11 mostly from long range and was 7-8 from the FT line for 29 points.
He helped Lincoln beat Springfield Southeast 70-61...

Here's a quiz question...can anyone identify what is that black thing on Jordan Nelson's left knee?
What's it called and what does it accomplish??

The answer is right here...mouse over to read...

It is a relatively new technique of patellar (kneecap) taping that pulls the kneecap laterally (towards the outside) and significantly reduces knee pain associated with the friction of the kneecap moving up and down in the recessed "trough" that's anatomically there for it to move in --
(known as the patello-femoral pain syndriome)

but some athletes get a lot of knee pain and swelling after vigorous activity or jumping.
In the end, it really works well and I have a lot of experience in taping the knee as such with a lot of benefit seen in the athletes I have done.

Patellofemoral syndrome (runner's knee) results from misalignment of the kneecap as it slides over the lower end of the thigh bone. Symptoms include tightness or fullness in the knee area, swelling, and mild discomfort. Treatment includes the use of anti-inflammatory medications, in addition to stretching, strengthening and icing the knee.

Maybe I should see a sports doc as I deal with patellar tendon pain from time to time. But I suppose I'm just stubborn. It's directly related to all the running I do. Usually need to back off the mileage for 2-4 weeks and am able to run through it. Heck - I was able to qualify for the Boston Marathon this past fall... so I'm not ready to go under the knife just yet. I hear once you go under the knife, you'll never be the same again.

McConnell taping -- it pulls the patella laterally and the syndrome improves

He's one of my favorites in Central Ill. I can't believe there are some people and D1 schools who don't think he is a D1 prospect. I would love to see him in a BU uniform.
