  • Miami (Ohio) finally stops using Indian head logo

Didn't the NCAA decree many years ago that NCAA schools had to stop using native American imagery on logos, names, and mascots? Didn't they threaten to punish Bradley is they didn't comply? So how has Miami (Ohio) gotten away with using their Indian Head logo all this time until now?
They have finally decided to stop using or allowing their Indian Head logo to be used, and the NCAA didn't even force this decision. -
Miami University in Ohio says it will no longer allow its Indian-head logo to be used on merchandise sold on or off campus.

Thank Goodness! I can now finally sleep soundly at night! Bless the NCAA.

Now, if we can only get the Cleveland Indians to go PC...

My sister went to school there and I never even saw that logo (it was after 1996). I Didn't even realize they had it, I've just always known them as the RedHawks I guess. I sure wish we still had our Braves logo...

Wasn't there some weasel way out of the NCAA rule on Native American mascots? Like, if the school gave enough $$$$$$ to the local tribe, they would back off and be ok with it?

        Isn't that correct FSU??????

        What a joke...
