  • ANTI-VALLEY?

On the Selection Show on CBS, after the seeds were picked Nance and Billy "ACC" Packer absoloutley ripped the Valley by mentioning Bradley's weak schedule and others and never mentioned that Iowa, LSU, and Bucknell went down to the Valley. Also, they mentioned that in the last 3 years, the acc got some outragious number of wins and the valley with single digits. Maybe it's because ANTI-MID MAJORS like these folks give mid majors 15 seeds and power teams 1 and 2 seeds. Win some games please Valley.

Can somebody get the e-mail address of CBS sports. I would like to e-mail them and tell them that, Jim Nance and Billy Packer are rude and obnoxious, for their treatment of Craig Littlepage and their self serving view of mid-majors, and should be removed from their announcing chores!

Amen Brother! If you ever see a BCS team with a double-digit seed in the tournament, it's because they came out of nowhere to win their conference tournament. I think the message I tried to get from Craig Littlepage is that the big boys may play in tough conferences, and they might play a big non-conference game now and then, but they really need to think about playing more teams that are projected in the top 100, rather than those ranked between 180 and 334. Iowa and Iowa State are the only major programs I know that always play smaller schools (Drake and Northern Iowa) home and away. Indiana was not afraid to do this either this year (they played at Ball State, Indiana State, and Western Illinois). When was the last time Syracuse played a New York team away from home in the non-conference season? Aside from the year Illinois went to Peoria for the Krueger-Molinari love-fest, the last road non-conference game the Illini played in the state was at Loyola. After the Ramblers won, they mysteriously disappeared from the Illini schedule!

Yeah I was very dissapointed in how Packer and Nantz handled themselves. Who do they want to let in from the ACC? Florida State? Bah.
That would be worse than gving Tennesee a two seed

        We lost in the semis.
Good luck at Bradley Andrew, its been a pleasure.

No.... for a BCS team to come out of nowhere to win their conference tourney earns them a 5 seed. <See Syracuse> 13 is a bit low for the season we have had and the way we finished but Kansas is young and perhaps beatable.

Also, Indiana(6 seed) seems a tad bit questionable

Well I thought they would be a 7. They beat Illinois, Michigan State, and Ohio State this season. Played Duke and UCONN very tough. Tough schedule in the Big Ten good showing in the Big 10 tourney took OSU to the final seconds. It could be worse.

I don't know if you could remove them since they do have a right to their opinions. HOWEVER, their opinions have no basis in that they apparently did no research whatsoever in coming up with their opinions. In other words, an opinion only holds water when it is based on proper analysis of the situation, not through hatred!

All I can say regarding these two tools is that what conferences did the last five to ten years have nothing to do with anything! The Valley gets four teams in based on what their teams did THIS YEAR! Maybe Nance and Packer have learned nothing over their careers!

And your absolutely right BuBraves55, WSU for sure should be able to beat Seton Hall, a team that has no business in the tourney! SIU and UNI have legitimate shots to win as well. BU hopefully can pull off what another 13 seeded BU pulled against Kansas last year! But at least two teams need to win this year. That will put these so-called objective analysts in their place, though they probably will STILL complain for years why the Valley "stole" bids from the BCS conferences!

It's complete BS how the RPI is supposed to mean so much until a conference, the MVC, figured out how to exploit it to their advantage, and now it's cheapened. There is no way that Missouri State should be excluded from the tournament.

i thought it was amazing how jim nantz, on top of questioning everything about mid majors, came out and completely interupted Littlepage when he was in mid sentence to get his opinion in!!!! If I'm Jim Nantz, doing Olympics, golf, basketball, and anything else anywhere it seems like, I'm listening to what the PROS have to say before I chime in.

You thought the MVC is the only one who is upset?
Even though the Mountain West got more into the tourney than they deserved, they are still whining.

Don't list to Billy Fudgepacker as the Jayhawk Nation calls him !!! My personal fav of his "Kansas can run with Oklahoma, but they can't win." That was the year we the won the title!

You'll be glad to know ESPN has had nothing but praise for the MVC all season long!!

Now the guys in the Big XII are complaining that they didn't get enough respect from the selection committee!!
Come on now, these big conferences get 4-8 in the tourney every single year even when they have a down year.
This is a pretty funny article if you want to read it.

"Not having anyone from the Big 12 on the NCAA selection committee may have been costly for the conference, says Colorado coach Ricardo Patton.

Patton's Buffaloes were one of the most disappointed teams in the country on Sunday when the committee announced bids for the 65-team field. Despite a 20-9 record and 9-7 finish in the Big 12, the Buffaloes were snubbed by the NCAA and wound up accepting a bid to play Old Dominion in the NIT."

PSSSST---hate to break it to you, but Colorado had a 59 RPI, a non-conference SOS ranked 271!!!!, played numerous teams whose RPI's are near or over 300!!!, and lost by 33 points to Texas A&M in the early rounds of their conference tournament.
They 2-5 against the top 50, and also had THREE OTHER 25 point losses in the course of the season.
