  • Former BU recruit, class of 2007 center decommits

6'10" center Desmond Hendrix of Wabash Valley CC was recruited by Bradley among others, and committed to LSU back on Sept. 22.
But today, in a move that shows the cutthroat world of recruiting can work both ways, LSU withdrew the scholarship offer. Then they announced they had gotten a committment from a different juco big man, Quintin Thornton of Odessa CC in Texas.
Hendrix is back on the market. Could Bradley be a possibility? Oklahoma State and Indiana were interested and still are in the market for a juco big man.

DC - that shocks the pants off me.

IMO, a school better have a VERY good reason to pull an offer.

    That scares me - baggage?

Or just plain and simple ethics flying out the window.

I think it's most likely the LSU coaches simply had more time to assess what Hendrix would add to their team, and they thought they could do better. No reports have suggested there are baggage issues with Hendrix. He has moved around a few times. He was at Carbondale high school, then transferred to Chicago Julian high school for his senior year ('04-'05), then to Wabash CC.

But if there was significant baggage, he wouldn't have been getting offers from so many major schools. Roy Bright was one of the top Juco players in the country, but had virtually no Div I interest.
Hendrix, despite averaging just 5.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last year had numerous high Div I schools after him, and had several other scholarship offers.

LSU coach John Brady, on the other hand, has a history of pulling scholarship offers from recruits.
