Several juco players have gotten to the NBA via the D-League or Europe..
and many others were drafted but never made an NBA roster..
But how many NBA players were drafted right out of junior college and actually made an NBA roster and played in the NBA?
I will give one example but I am going to say he really doesn't count...because I am looking for guys who never went to a 4-year school!
Shawn Kemp first went to Kentucky, but never played there then went Trinity Valley CC, then was drafted in Round #1, pick #17, in 1989
Can you name others who never went to or played at a 4-year college?
Here are the only ones I know of ...mouse over to read...
another borderline one....Aleksander Radojevic from Barton Co. CC -- he was recruited to Ohio State but was unable to play there and then was drafted right out of juco with pick #12 in 1st Round of 1999.
Stephen Jackson, Butler Co. CC, 1997 Rd #2 14th pick
Ernest Brown, Indian Hills CC, drafted 2nd round #23 in 2000
Qyntel Woods, Northeast Mississippi CC, Rd 1, pick #21 in 2002
Martin Lewis, Seward Co. CC, 1995 Rd 2, pick #21
and the most familiar name...
Donta Smith Southeastern Illinois CC, drafted in 2004, Rd 2, pick #5
