THE STORYLINE
Bradley continues to look for its first win of 2011 and its first Missouri Valley Conference win of the season ... The Braves welcome current Valley leader Missouri State, which brings an eight-game overall winning streak to Carver Arena ... Bradley's current six-game losing streak equals its longest since a similar drought Dec. 19, 2007-Jan. 8, 2008 and the Braves have not dropped seven in a row since an eight-game skid in January 2004.
WITH A WIN
Bradley will ... Snap its longest losing streak in three years ... Earn its first win of 2011 ... Earn its first Valley win of the season ... Win its fourth straight home game versus Missouri State for the first time in series history.
Missouri State will ... Improve to 7-0 in conference play for just the second time in program history, equalling its 7-0 start in the Mid-Continent Conference in 1988-89 ... Give third-year head coach Cuonzo Martin his 50th career win.
PROMOTIONS
Chicago Boyz Acrobats will perform at halftime ... Postgame autographs by Dodie Dunson, Taylor Brown, Jake Eastman, Milos Knezevic and Jordan Prosser.
AGAINST THE BEARS
Sunday's game will be the 44th in the all-time series between Bradley and Missouri State, which dates back to MSU's entry into The Valley for the 1990-91 season ... Missouri State owns a 26-17 record against Bradley, joining Creighton (41-40) as the only two Valley schools with an all-time series edge against the Braves ... Bradley does own a 12-8 home record in the series, however, and the Braves will be shooting for their fourth straight home win against Missouri State Sunday ... Ninth-year Bradley head coach Jim Les is 7-9 all-time against Missouri State, 6-2 at home against the Bears and 3-1 against third-year MSU head coach Cuonzo Martin.
TURNABOUT IS FAIR PLAY
The 2009-10 series between Bradley and Missouri State likely produced one of the largest turnaround scores in Valley history ... After suffering an 88-69 loss Jan. 9 at JQH Arena, Bradley rebounded just eight days later with a 74-56 victory against Missouri State Jan. 16 at Carver Arena ... The games produced a 37-point turnaround in the two results.
SCORING BURDEN
Bradley senior guard Andrew Warren leads The Valley in scoring at 18.8 points per game ... Warren's 320 points through 17 games represent 29.9 percent of Bradley's overall offensive output (1,070 points), easily the largest individual scoring ratio in the MVC ... Warren's individual scoring ratio ranks as the largest by a Brave since Curtis Stuckey (25.1 ppg) scored 34.5 percent of Bradley's points during the 1990-91 season and currently ranks as the eighth-greatest ratio at Bradley since World War II.
FREE THROWS & THREES
In addition to leading The Valley in free throws made (89), Bradley senior guard Andrew Warren also enters the weekend leading the league with the most 3-point field goals (43) ... Only two players in the 24-year history of the college 3-point line have led The Valley in both free throws made and 3-pointers made and both won the Larry Bird Player of the Year Award: Hersey Hawkins, Bradley (198 and Marcus Wilson, Evansville (1999).
WARREN AT THE LINE
Not only does Bradley senior guard Andrew Warren lead The Valley and rank 12th nationally in free throw percentage (.90, he also leads the league in free throw attempts (9 ... In fact, Warren enters the weekend as the only player in the country that has made more free throws (89) than any other player in his league has attempted -- Creighton's Antoine Young is second to Warren with 84 free throw attempts ... Warren's streak of consecutive free throws made ended at 40 when he missed his third attempt Jan. 4 versus Southern Illinois ... The 40 straight makes is the second-longest streak in Bradley history and eighth-longest in Valley annals ... Warren's 13-for-13 effort last Sunday at UNI was his third game this season of double-digit makes at the line without a miss.
AND BEHIND THE ARC
Senior guard Andrew Warren has made at least one 3-pointer in all 17 games Bradley has played this season ... Missouri State's Adam Leonard (32 games) is the only other Valley player with a longer streak, while no other player in the league enters the weekend with a streak longer than five consecutive games with at least one 3-pointer.
MORE THAN A SCORER
Not only is Andrew Warren leading The Valley in scoring, but the 6-foot-6 senior guard also leads the league in free throw percentage (.90, free throws made (89) and attempts (9, 3-point field goals made (43) and minutes (36.4 mpg); and he is tied for second with 1.5 steals per game ... In addition, Warren leads the Braves in rebounding at 5.9 rpg and has three double-doubles this season ... Has a chance to become the first player to lead The Valley in both scoring and steals since Drake's Curt Smith in 1992-93 ... In the Nov. 30 game at Western Carolina, Warren led the Braves in points (22), rebounds (, assists (4) and steals (2) ... In the Dec. 4 game versus Utah, Warren led the Braves across the board -- points (27), rebounds (10), assists (2), blocked shots (2) and steals (4).
WARREN MILESTONE WATCH
Needs 23 points to move up another spot on the school's all-time scoring list (see chart to left) ... Needs four 3-pointers to pass current Cleveland Cavalier Anthony Parker for fourth place on the school's career list for 3-point field goals ... At least a 3-for-3 effort at the free throw line will put him back atop the school's all-time list for career free throw percentage -- 9-for-10 will do it, too.
LOCALS START MVC HOT
Bradley's two local products have started the Valley season with some hot shooting ... Sophomore guard Dyricus Simms-Edwards (Peoria, Ill./Washington H.S.) is averaging 11.3 ppg on 50.0 percent (24-4 shooting from the field and behind the arc (5-10) in the first six league games ... Redshirt freshman center Jordan Prosser (Goodfield, Ill./Eureka H.S.) is shooting 68.2 percent (15-22) from the field in the first six league games while averaging 5.8 points per game.
DUNSON STEPS UP
With the season's top two point guards, Sam Maniscalco and Dyricus Simms-Edwards, unavailable, senior Dodie Dunson had just one day to prepare to handle the point guard duties Dec. 8 at #1 Duke ... Dunson was up to the challenge, finishing with eight points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and, perhaps most notably, zero turnovers in 38 minutes at Cameron Indoor Stadium ... In nine games as the starting point guard, Dunson has averaged 9.3 ppg, 4.2 apg, 4.4 rpg and 1.2 spg ... Although he had previously not played point guard at Bradley, Dunson was a point guard in high school and handled the position at times during his freshman season at Iowa State (2006-07) and throughout his sophomore year at Vincennes (2007-0.
STAY ON THE FLOOR
Bradley junior center Will Egolf has overcome a slow start this season to become a low-post scoring threat for the Braves, but foul trouble has limited his effectiveness ... In the first six Valley games, Egolf is averaging 10.7 ppg and 4.3 rpg in just 21.0 minutes per game ... Egolf has committed 26 fouls in six MVC games, an average of 4.3 fouls per game, while fouling out in four of the six games ... By playing the same number of minutes as Andrew Warren, Egolf's numbers project out to 19.3 ppg and 7.8 ppg (Warren is averaging 19.0 ppg and 6.2 rpg in league action).
FEWER THREES
Following the early departure of 7-foot center Patrick O'Bryant to the NBA following the 2005-06 season, Bradley changed up its style of play and became one of the nation's top 3-point shooting teams ... While the 3-point shooting took a dip last season, Bradley has become far less reliant on the trifecta this season ... Senior guard Andrew Warren remains one of the league's top 3-point threats by shooting 42.2 percent from behind the arc and averaging a league-high 2.5 treys per game ... The rest of the team, however, is shooting just 31.1 percent (50-161) from behind the arc and is averaging only 2.9 3-pointers per game ... Through six rounds of league play, Warren has made 15 of the team's 30 3-pointers.
THE TURNOVER STORY
Turnovers have been a telling statistic in Bradley's outcomes this season ... Bradley is 6-3 when it commits fewer turnovers than the opposition ... The Braves are 0-8 when they commit more turnovers than the opposition this year ... In Bradley's six wins, the Braves have averaged just 13.0 turnovers per game, while forcing an average of 19.0 turnovers by the opposition ... In the 11 losses, however, Bradley has averaged 14.5 turnovers, but forced only 11.5 miscues.
FOUL TROUBLE
Bradley is 6-6 this year when it does not commit more fouls than the opposition, but 0-5 when it commits more fouls ... In the six wins, Bradley has been called for only 16.3 fouls per game, leading to just 14.3 free throw attempts per game by the opposition ... In the 11 losses, Bradley has been whistled for an average of 19.8 fouls per game, sending the opposition to the free throw line for 23.7 charity attempts per game.
LOOKING AHEAD
Bradley will be on the road for its next two games: Wednesday at Creighton and Sunday at Evansville ... Both games will be televised locally on WTVP World (over-the-air channel 47.2, Comcast Digitial Cable 218, Mediacom Digital Cable 121) ... Bradley's next home game is Jan. 26 against Interstate 74 Rival Illinois State and will be preceded by the second Braves Club Gameday Luncheon of the year.
