Thanks Greg Stewart -- a really nice article on a kid who has worked very hard to get where he is and by season's end he should have close to 2300 career points -- and will be solidly in 2nd place all time in our area...an area that's had a tremendous amount of great talent!
One more thing...that article starts off...
From the moment he had 43 points in a seventh-grade state title game, Donivine Stewart’s name quickly made its way around the Peoria basketball circles.
But I recall that game, and where a lot of kids would have gotten tons of their points at the line, Donivine only had 2 points at the FT line in that game ..
he was 19-21 from the field, 3-3 from the 3-pt line, and 2-3 from the FT line, and carried his team singlehandedly -- all the way to that title game.
In the four games at "State" that year, Donivine had 117 points...
That number STILL STANDS as the most points by any individual in a single (7A) State Tournament, and his 43 is the most by any player ever in the title game...
His 19 FG in that title game also still stands as the most field goals in any game at State...
BUT here's even more IESA records.....
Donivine also played for his Peoria Pleasant Valley 7A team while he was in 5th grade and that team went to state, and made it to the quarterfinals, so in those two games Donivine scored 34 more points, AND also Donivine's Pleasant Valley team made the 2007 8-2A State Tournament and played three more games (in Monticello) taking home the 4th place trophy, and Donivine scored 29, 39, and 24 points in those three games...which also still hold the records for BOTH Most points in a game (39) and most points in a tournament (92).
SO -- in NINE games over three years at the IESA State Tournies, Donivine has an impressive 243 points, and nobody else in the history of the state even comes anywhere close!
I can't wait to see this kid at Bradley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-- ???I love the city of Peoria and I really love playing for my city,??™??™ Stewart said. "During AAU season, the Chicago kids call me ???Peoria.??™ Playing for Bradley is like playing for my hometown.??™??™ --
DS went off for 49 points against a horrible Richwoods team tonight. Had numerous chances to get 50 as Richwoods kept fouling when they had no chance to win. Missed 6 free throws late in 4th quarter including 4 in last 10 seconds of game but was on fire from 3 point line.

Maybe Donivine can catch Mike Robinson's Peoria area scoring record of 2,944.
B4L -- maybe - but our two best players are the guys they'd need to displace in the lineup...
whereas ISU is very weak at both PG and SG and are desperately looking for some scoring..
