  • Bite the Bullet

Like many of you, I am in 100% agreement that a change must be made at the end of this season.

Our BB program is in a shambles with or without TB and SM. IMO, our record would have been somewhat better with them but overall, we would still be mired in the same mediocrity we have had for the past 8 or 9 years.

New recruits are great and it looks like we may have some good ones but new recruits cannot get the job done without the leadership, direction, motivation, tactical skill, teaching, and winning philosophy offensively and defensively of an outstanding coach.

While unwavering optimism and blind loyalty may be OK for awhile, these ultimately must give way to a recognition of what is truly happening to the Bradly BB program.

However painful, let's bite the bullet---make the change---and move on!!

I can't guarantee anything, but I'd bet good money that JL will be back next year.

Certainly there are enough rea$on$ for it, but I think that it is too early to make any judgements one way or the other.

I think JL is untouchable. If they haven't made a change by now, why would they after this season?

I think he will be back next season.

Disagree on both parts. Nobody is untouchable and IMHO changing coaches in mid-season in college hoops won't accomplish much.

I didn't mean a mid-season change. I meant if he hasn't been fired up to this year....why would he be after the year.

It will all depend on finances IMO. The lost revenue by declining attendance and lost season ticket revenue may offset or even exceed what a buyout would cost. If you're going to lose the money, you might as well lose it while turning around the program. If he returns the arena will be even more dead than it was last night.

Because this is the worst team in how many years? Worst start in MVC history. Worse results every year following the NCAA run.

I don't think he will be fired after this year, but I also don't think he's untouchable.

I've been saying this all along. Everyone is worried about the big buyout, which will pale in comparison to the lost ticket and booster revenue if BU continues to lose like they are. In fact, it's already happening. You only have to be in the arena to see it.

I know I am in the minority here, but.....just don't see how we are as horrible as everyone is saying. That does not mean I am happy with the results.

This is also probably why there was no "pay to play" tourney last year and very little halftime entertainment this year. Probably to build a war chest.

Like I said previously, he will be back. Finances is one factor, but there will be a sense of pity for the guy that he couldn't achieve what he was supposed to achieve. I mean, TB going down because of a heart condition and SM off the table for the rest of the season, the administration can't help but feel a sense of compassion for poor ol' Jim and his team that can't get that ever elusive win.

Now, if he does come back next year, it'll be like a morgue. If he somehow pulls another rabbit out of the hat, he'll be back the year after that too.

My fuse is getting pretty darn short, but I'm not the AD nor the president. I'm also not a big money donor either. Only so much the big money donors can do.

You are insane if you think 'sense of pity' will keep a coach around. Give me a break. If 'sense of pity' had anything to do with anything, coaches would never get replaced.

Thats MY dilema.....I am convinced we'd be MINIMUM 4-2 and quite possibly 5-1 with a full healthy roster. BUT...we aren't and how long do we keep saying "If only".

IF JL gets cut loose I'll understand...IF they keep him lets all just hope that things can get better.

How are you 'convinced'? I was certain we would have won most of our non-con games, but we had one of the worst non-con schedules in recent memory. MVC is a different story. Do you think at full strength we're better than WSU, MSU, or CU? I say no way.
