We need a Photoshop thread showing Captain Brave playing an important part in good world events.

Honestly, I'm in favor of a mascot of some kind, but I think we'll be hard pressed to ever find something people can agree on.

Personally, I like the idea of The Gargoyles, which of course pays omage to the gargoyle statues connected to Bradley Hall.

              Bradley Hall Gargoyle:
These gargoyles overlook Bradley Hall, where I took many of my gen ed classes at my school. I completed my undergraduate and masters at Bradley University over a span of 10 years. Boy if these guys could talk, I am sure they could tell us plenty!

I disagree. Mascots should be fun. A big ole tree (blue even) running around could be hilarious. I'm not talking a Stanford Tree all christmas-y like. I'm talking a big old sycamore running about. I think it has huge marketing potential.

Along the same lines I'd support a creative mascot for BU. I think some dude running around as a clock could be funny. I'd even consider a nickname change if we're never going to be in a position to "use" braves.

I agree with you. The way it is now, we really don't have anything as a symbol that we can rally towards. I mean, most of us on this forum are "Braves fans," but who can act as the representative, omnipresent symbol that conveys the thousands who converge to Carver in one caricature? It would have to start with getting back into postseason play, but if we had a mascot that had something to do with Bradley (gargoyles, squirrels, clocks) then it could bring in some nice chunk of change in terms of licensing and maybe bring together the student body to rally around (if, of course, the team is successful).

I was actually quoted in the scout last year on the issue of a mascot. Personally i think we should add a lion as our mascot and keep the braves nickname. I think a lion is a different spin on brave, away from the "politically incorrect" indian connotations. I also think a lion is marketable, and easy to make friendly and likeable for the fans and alumni. We could even name him Brad E. Lee haha

We could keep the Braves. This country is "The Home of The Brave" after all!

I've always been a fan of Bradley Braves and the old Indian mascot and opposed to any change......... But the reality is that this mascot will NEVER be used again soooooooo....... Your idea of a Lion with a different spin on "Brave" RedSeaElite is probably the best I have heard so far.

PS: I HATE the Gargoyle idea. Sorry guys.

I think a Lydia Moss Bradley character would be a good mascot...Kind of like the Wake Forest Demon Deacon...She (the mascot) could run around the court with a ruler!

If done tasefully, this could be great and a great attention getter!

Not to sound sexist, but I can only imagine the taunting if the mascot for the men's athletic teams was a woman.
