  • It's "time" for a Mascot --- Bring in "The Clock"

One of the things I enjoyed in the Oregon – Auburn BCS championship game was when the camera would show the mascots … especially the Oregon Duck. It’s time for Bradley to adopt a mascot. Of all the mascot suggestions that were considered a few years back, I thought “the Clock” was clearly the best. It pays homage to Bradley’s heritage as a Horology School and is a current nod to the school's well-respected engineering program. The Clock has a visible connection to the campus landmark Westlake Hall, and, like the Duck, lends itself to being an entertaining figure ... lots of mascot costume ideas come to mind.

The Clock mascot provides lots of double meanings such as, “Braves Clock their Opponents," "Time waits for no man ... or coach," "Time Runs out for Opponents" and so on. Student groups and fans could show their support in cool Geppetto outfits (fits right in at the Beer Hall after the game) or in more edgy “Clockwork Braves” Droog outfits.

OK … so maybe it’s a bit goofy, but having a cool mascot like the Duck would bring some fun to the games.

I wouldn't mind a mascot, but sorry, I do not like the clock suggestion. A clock would have to be a cartoonish caricature, since there is no way to do a clock as a mascot otherwise. But it would be reviled by many BU fans, and mocked and ridiculed by opponents. It also would not sell well as a mascot for merchandising, which may be the #1 reason for selecting a new mascot.
I think to be universally accepted by BU grads, fans, and supporters, it needs to be something cute and likeable, as well as politically correct (no warlike, or native American references). I would favor some kind of animal mascot.

I'm ready for something. As long as we don't have a blue fox when we could have an awesome tree like indy st.

I would be in favor of a mascot. Since we can't do anything honoring Native Americans, we would probably have to change the nickname. I like the idea of an animal mascot. I personally like the idea of hawks, the central Illinois area is known for the number of hawks that call it home. I also think that it lends itself to being very marketable.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

Here is the story on Indiana State- Indiana State's nickname is the Sycamores, but you will not see a symbol of a tree anywhere. It is not part of their logo, and has never been a mascot.-
The Indiana State Online Store is the official online store of Indiana State Athletics. This store was assembled so that Sycamore fans across the country could show their allegiance to their favorite school, while at the same time contributing to the success of the athletic department. Since a tree does not lend itself to marketing, Indiana State created a mascot who was an Indian named Chief Quabachi, but he was retired in 1989. Suince 1995 their on-court, or on-field mascot is an undefined "creature" named Sycamore Sam, who looks like a blue fox!-

How about a clock with a Native American Indian image on it's face?

If the Oregon Duck works (and I think it does), then a clock will work. Certainly a more menacing clock image than a Disney-esque cartoon can be designed ... even though Oregon heavily uses Donald Duck imagery.

If we're gonna have a clock for a mascot, as a registered blue/no-hair, I insist that it be a grandfather clock.

Well, maintaining the clock theme and to honor the horology school from the 1800's, we could always adopt the nickname the Screaming h**S...

Then we could have fish slapping day. (Wouldn't the blue hairs love to slap a "stander" with a fish?)

if we had a clock as a mascot in the Molinari era it would have expired
