  • Starters and playin time after R&W

After seeing the red/white scrimmage this is how i see the playing time unfold

    Starters
    Zach Andrews
    Matt Salley
JJ Tauai (didnt really look good at the Red/White but assuming he'll start after last years performace)
Jeremy Crouch ( looked like he has his shot back and made some sweet passes
    Daniel Ruffin

    First off the bench
Will Frankin- probably will see the most minutes of any guard off the bench
Sam Singh ( only other big guy really so he will see time)
Jassey (looked like a potential starter in the future but still not experienced)
Warren & Adams - adams probably getting 15-18 mins a game while warren might get 10 but can and i think will contribute

anyone havfe thoughts on starters or playing time of players after R&W???

I didn't see the R&W so this is just based off last year, but I think Will Franklin offers much more than Crouch, and would rather see him starting and getting more minutes than Crouch. Crouch just seems to not bring enough to the table to me as can be seen by last season when he lost his shot and was pretty ineffective overall.

But, if Crouch has his shot back, and is becoming a good passer I could be proven wrong.

the only reason why I say crouch over franklin is thast franklin did well off the bench last year and fills the role nicely as ruffins back up

However I did like it when franklin and ruffin were on the court at the same time last year and im sure we will be seeing a lot more of that this year

Here is how I woild see it. Both Ruff and Will have developed into very good defensive guards. I think they will both be starters, along with Tauai, Zach, and Salley. Crouch and Singh will come off the bench and will play a lot, though Sam will start slow.
Then Adams, Jassey, and Warren will be next in the player rotation.
In terms of playing time, I think it will brake down in this order-
        Ruffin 34 min
        Franklin 30 min
        Tauai 23
        Zach 23
        Salley 20
        Crouch 18
        Adams 14
        Singh 14
        Jassey 12
        Warren 10
        Others 2

I'm trying to figure out who gets the 80 minutes of playing time between the 4 and 5 position. There's going to be some guys playing out of position at times out of necessity.

Crouch will see more than 18 minutes a game. He's going to be logging a lot of minutes this year, and they're going to be quality minutes. We just got a small taste of it Friday.

You may be right. But he only played 13 min a game last year. 18 min is a pretty good amount. Will Franklin averaged just over 18 min a game last year and was a major contributor.

Very true, and very valid points. We're not as deep this year though. I just see JC playing a lot of minutes, whether or not its as a starter or not. I think we're going to see a lot of what we saw Friday, which is a big (he's a legit 6'5'), strong, aggressive guard who is a great passer, can handle the ball, and WILL knock down jumpers if left open. I can see him even spelling Ruff and Will at the point if needed.
