  • +12.5? What?

I know we have been bad, but to be getting 12.5 points against a team that can't score 70 seems to be a bit much.

I might be putting my money where my mouth is on this one...

Prior to last night, UNI had given up 61 points or fewer in each of their previous 12 games. Our offense is worse than most of those 12 opponents. UNI probably won't need to score anywhere near 70 to cover the spread.

That spread is completely insane. If I had it I would no question put a grand on bradley. This just shows the lack of knowledge that vegas really has on mid major basketball. This reminds me of when north carolina went to evansville and were only a 9 point favorite. Haha I would have bet my house that north carolina covered.......and NC won by like 30......not that I thought they were gonna win by that much....but either way... IMO load up on bradley to cover. This will pprobably drop to 9 or 8 tomorrow wich is still too high.....

Dont waste your money. we're gonna get destroyed tonight. UNI by 20. We wont score 55. 76-53 UNI in a rout. This will be our lowpoint of the season and then we will hopefully start to dig out

Apologies in advance for having one of my Peter Griffin 'You wanna know what grinds my gears?' moments today, but here it is...

"Start to dig out" as in digging out of a hole - This is one of the most misused sayings in the world. If you're in a hole, how do you 'dig out'? Answer - You don't. You climb out. I can't think of how many people say this, whether they're athletes, politicians, co-workers, whoever. It makes absolutely zero sense. Not targeting fanatic here, but it drives me up the wall when I hear people use this term.

Now then...I like BU +12.5. We probably lose by 10, but UNI hasn't shown any propensity to score points either. 55-48 UNI. BU covers.

I believe I said that about a month ago. It prompted a discussion about how Molinari's last team was worse than this one. I pointed out that Mo's last team was twice as talented as this one, and there's very little evidence to dispute that, if any. So you are 100% correct in your statement.

What's truly ironic is that Mo's last team actually did have the 'youth and inexperience' excuse to fall back on.

Interesting......a person cannot dig themselves out of a hole, but they can be driven up a wall?

Who knows. I'm just talking about this statement. The correct statement is 'climb our way out', not 'dig', which is why it was used in this context in the movie 'Dumb and Dumber' -

LLOYD - Well it doesn't do any good having you sitting there on your butt whining about it. If we're gonna get out of this hole, we're gonna have to dig ourselves out.

I am pretty sure that line wasn't put in there to make Jim Carrey's character sound smart.

There have been a lot of easy money plays in the Valley this year, both conference and non-con games. UNC vs. UE was an easy one. All four WSU games have been easy. I thought our loss at ISU blue was an easy one.

Hindsight is 20-20 (there's another cliche for you...) but these were all solid wins for those that know the league well. It happens every year.

I'm not ready to put this game in the "easy win" category ATS, but BU should cover the spread, which is now +13 or +13.5, depending where you look.

If this is true, shouldn't everyone be walking around backwards?

I believe the point spread is intially set by odds makers to try and get equal money bet on both teams...If more money is bet on one team, the odds are adusted accordingly to try and achieve betting parity...

Assuming the point spread being discussed is dynamic, it reflects the sentiment of the people actually betting on this game, not the "oddsmakers".

They are responsible for the opening line...and are guessing what it will take to balance out GAMBLER'S betting, not who THEY think will win by how much

AZ BU -- you are absolutely right, but it seems that this season (more than usual) the oddsmakers have been way off on certain valley teams. I'm sure, like most of America, they follow the Big Six conferences more than the little guys, but it's a little out of whack this year for the MVC.

Watch - UNI wins by 13 tonight and I have nothing to say.

                          It's 13.5 now...so you would still be a winner!

                            Placed the following 4-team teaser......

                            Creighton +2.5
                            Indiana State +5.5
                            Bradley +17.5
                            Wichita State -1

                            $10 to win $30

What if you start digging sideways at a gradual incline?
