  • Swoosh Socks

Quick question for anyone. I asked this within the SIU postgame thread, but never got any feedback and was curious on the rules regarding the following situation:

What the heck was the deal with the ref having an issue with several Bradley player's Nike socks with less than a minute to go in the SIU game. He made several players pull their socks down or inside out to make sure the swoosh didn't show. The most bizarre thing was for him to do it with such little time left in a close game. I noticed he didn't say anything to the SIU players who were wearing UA socks. The swoosh and UA emblems are all over the uniforms already so I was a bit confused. Not to mention, this has always been the case since I can remember with all teams. Anyhow, that ref seemed like a real piece of work...

Yeah we were laughing about it up where I was sitting. Those refs were ridiculous (affected both teams), and this was just one more thing that I thought was really weird they were doing.

Sorry it took so long to get an answer but I have it. Now, this is an earth shaker and game changer but here it is. According to NCAA rules you can NOT wear a sock with two logos on each sock. You can only have one logo per sock. I had my grandkids on the floor during warmups and all Braves who had two logos on there socks had one covered up. It was very obvious. Don't know if something was sewn over them but it looked like tape covering one logo. Has nothing to do with Nike. Can be any companys logo. Doesn't make alot of sense but the HS national federation also makes crazy uniform changes every once and awhile. There you have it.

Thanks Wily. The craziest part of it was for the ref to bring that silly issue up with just a couple minutes left in a close ball game. Oh well.
