Sorry TAS, gotta go with Lakeview on this. SIU was missing their leading scorer and rebounder and still worked us over on our home court.

How sad is it when Ind.St. has a new coach come in, deal with missing 2 starters and win games, what is our excuse?

our excuse is bad teams find ways to lose every night. One night its their own players admission that we werent prepared, didnt come ready to play, etc. .. the next its the opponents subs have career nights(in st's Carter, SIUs no name, etc), then tonight our coach cant stop riding a bad MVC crew and gets T'd up at the worst possible time. It's always something. UNI will blow us out of their barn Sunday night and then its 0-5. Someone explain how we crawl out of that hole. In st isnt a good road team, so we MAY have a chance in that one, but where does our next win come from after that? Not Mo st, we'll lose another home game there. At evansville??Marty's lost 150 lbs- we cant expect to win there either. Our only hope is that TB is cleared in mid feb and returns to play before the valley tourney. we dont even need him in game shape. hed be better than 3/4 of our roster even after no physical activity for 3 months. I'm not exagerrating that either. As long as we avoid Wichita, we'd have a chance to get to Saturday, and I'd take that given all the garbage weve seen so far.

Of course I'm disappointed in the teams play like everyone else.. but missing two players.. and missing 2 players who are all valley or all valley honorable mentioned is not the same thing. And losing senior leadership at the guard position.. and losing a gunner like Kelly who is not a complete player at this stage of his career is not the same thing. It is clear InSt has more shooters on the bench.. so losing Kelly was an easier fix and props to them for having that depth.

"Of course not"???? Who said Kelly doesn't "count" to some or that we're the only team with significant injuries? I stated my opinion. That I was not impressed with Kelly last season and I would personally not compare Kelly/Lathon to SM/TB.

Just curious.....what happens if we beat InSU on our home court next week? Of course, there's probably no possible way they lose to the worst team in the conference.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

I don't know. What happens if we win out? What happens if the sun doesn't come up tomorrow? Since we're likely to be 0-5 heading into that game, it would be a bad loss for them. But we can play the 'what if' game until we're blue in the face. Too many 'ifs' and 'buts' on the Hilltop these days.

Who would get TB the ball? I think you're underestimating the importance of having a good PG. We don't have one right now. Unless DD or DSE dramatically improve over the course of this season we are screwed.

I'm with you B4L. I think chitown has gone off the deep end. But he's always been unstable...

Well, they are obviously a more fundamentally sound shooting team, and the rest of the team has settled into their new roles while stepping up for the injured players. Perhaps they fall back a bit as the season wears on, but right now they are looking a lot sharper than we are. Just goes to show you that there is more to the game than just learning X's and O's.

Maybe so, but I don't think they are any more talented than the players we have left playing.

I'm just saying......Indiana State beat us on their home court. Let's see if we can return the favor against one of the better teams in the conference. Until we get swept by someone....I'll wait and see. I will say SIU clearly has the advantage having already beaten us in Peoria. If you don't agree....and think Kelly put up SM-like numbers last season and also believe Lathon is equal to TB, then so be it. I just don't believe it.
