    Post-game reflection:

We played a very gutsy game - props to the effort by our guys. We played harder tonight than any game I've seen. I didn't see any slacking on D.
We didn't have many options toward the end of the game - DSE tried to do a little too much when double-teamed. Drew must have been blanketed.
I was not upset with this loss - just what I expected - we even were in this for most of the game. Drake is not a bad home team in conference, so we knew what to expect going in short-handed. Just upset that our coach couldn't control himself, which caused us to have to climb a mountain to get back into it (1 pt. to 5 pts. with 2:00 to go) Thanks Coach!!

Not a great game by A-Dubb (though he racked up 20) - didn't take good shots IMO. But he did some intangibles that should come with leadership. Solid game by Dodie - nice change. AT played about as good as he can - good to see him on the floor more.

DSE got a couple bad calls against him - they must have mistaken him for Will.

Overall, I liked what I saw compared to the other night at Home to SIU. What more can you ask from these guys?

The T was called by Heimerman.....looking at the replay it didn't look like a foul but we have also seen fouls called on plays like that. Either way you need to make sure you don't get a T during that time of the game.

Jim took responsibility for it....I'm sure it was as much out of frustration that your big man could make the layup more than anything

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I don't think this is the first time this has happened to Les. Didn't he do something similarly stupid at UNI before?

AW took 21 shots to score 20 points. Compare that to Van Deest.

I always hear our players say how good our guys do in practice, of course they do because they are going up against each other, maybe the coaches need to stop play every time Will touches anybody or gets close or just something different because something is really wrong when a 4th year player continues to commit these dumb kind of fouls, or else maybe Will just really likes to only play 15 to 20 minutes and watch his team lose, in all the basketball I have watched over the years I never remember seeing anyone not be able to break his bad habits like this.

Why are we applauding effort? Effort should be a given.

On the radio Dave Snell called out Randy Heurmann as the "T"ing official.
Horse of the same colar as Pollard.

I have no problem applauding effort. Effort does not guarantee wins....it typically makes wins more likely but not guaranteed....I think we all expect players and coaches to put forth all they can...sometimes it's hard to see but you can tell when someone displays extra effort on the floor.

On the flip side..it's very frustrating when the the same mistakes are made over and over......effort doesn't make up for that.

It reminds me of that episode of the Brady Bunch where Carol tells Cindy "not to use THAT word!" I think she was referring to the word stinker, which is in the same league as "foul" as far as I'm concerned!

If THAT word bothers Pollard, then he's got bigger issues than I thought!
First let me get one thing straight, I'm not a Pollard fan but if JL did say the "F" word and Pollard heard it as DUBulldog says he heard, then JL would have been rung up by every official in the Valley. If that word in your opinion means Pollard has "bigger issues" then maybe we have other problems here we won't get into. There are young people that sit around or near the bench and they should not be subjected to coaches using that kind of language and I can tell you that will be a "T" most every time an official hears it.Plain and simple

Or maybe I can get you in on the estate on my third cousin and sending your bank account information for a piece of a small island off the coast of South America...

                          You buying in?

I was at the game sitting right next to the bench and that T should not have been given. JL was given a warning during the first half because he was out on the court too much. All he said before he got the Technical was Randy "the refs name" he said it twice then the guy turns and T's him up.

That late in a game a ref has to grow some thick skin.....he HAS to understand tensions are higher. Did JL stomp the ground....did he wave his arms....did he walk 10 feet out on the court and make a scene. I didn't see it and I haven't heard anyone there say he did.....IF a coach shows up the ref I can see it but a few feet outside the box to complain....just take it Mr Ref and walk away.

To many times these guys take it personally and are too weak skinned to even be a ref.

I know we say JL has to refrain from getting a T but he has a right to speak with officials and to expect the ref to refrain from being soft and getting caught up with hurt feelings becuase he might have got questioned about a call....

You probably think that Mo walks on water as well! Come on man... Go to a WIU game and sit behind the bench for a refresher. I am not trying to be anti Mo here but trying to keep it real
