They just released a Mid-Season update on the Wooden Award list...you can google and see the new names on the list...
but here...
I will list a few names of the very TOP contenders...from the preseason and mid-season lists...
and you try to guess which ones they are..
match the ones in the first list to the stats in the 2nd list...
A) - Shelvin Mack - one of the only mid-major guys on the Wooden list
B) - Va Tech's Malcolm Delaney
C) - LaceDarius Dunn- a top candidate for POY in his conference
D) - a guy whose name hasn't been mentioned even one time in this regard
1) One of the top 2 or 3 preseason candidates, the top scorer in the Big 12, and averaging 19.8 ppg over a 5 game stretch, but who gets his points largely via the sheer number of shots jacked...15-18 per game...he took 22 last game.
2) Another top candidate from the Big East who's averaging 19.1 ppg
3) Leading one of the top conferences in the nation with 19.4 ppg and 6 rpg, and hitting 45% on 3-pointers, and one of ONLY TWO players who is in the Top 40 nationally (John Shurna is the other) in BOTH scoring and 3-pt shooting pct.
4) Averaging 14.4 pts, 4.8 rpg..but has fallen off and only averaging only 10 ppg in conference play.
In case you haven't figured it out...the guy in "D)" is not a Wooden contender, although his stats are as good as or superior to 90% of the guys who are contenders....see if anyone can guess who it is......
