  • Bradley recruits in action tonight (Friday, 1/7)

Donivine Stewart is expected to play tonight when Limestone visits Washington (7:00 pm). Donivine needs 18 points to reach 2,000 for his career. Note that Donivine's scoring average of 20.7 ppg ranks 2nd among local players to Max Bielfeldt's 24.4 ppg.

Remy Abell and his Louisville Eastern Eagles play a huge conference game against Jeffersontown HS tonight at 6:30 pm CST. #2 ranked Eastern (10-1) lost their only game of the season to the #1 ranked Jeffersontown (13-0) in the championship game of the King of Bluegrass tournament. J-town is also ranked the #19 high school/prep team in the country by USA Today.
Tonight's game has been moved to Bellarmine University because of the big crowd expected.

By the way, after reading the Quad City Times online I have to comment on how fantastic their coverage is of all their local high school teams. Wow, wouldn't it be nice if we had anything close to this kind of quality reporting locally!

Here is their main high school sports page, for basketball-
Boy's Basketball and Quad Cities High School Sports News - football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, swimming, wrestling, golf and more

and it can be sorted for all the other HS sports. They have great quality strories on the local teams and players every day, not just once or twice a week, and not just after games are played.

But they even go much deeper in their reporting- Here is the team page for Davenport West (Nate Wells' school). They have in-depth team pages for every school-

It can be sorted for any school sport, girls or boys.
Here is the boys basketball page-

They update the team record and make it easy to go back and look at any past game story, stats, or box score, as well as previewing upcoming games. Note that they also have a tab to go to the team roster, and they list all the players for every team, boys and girls, even the most obscure members of the teams.
    Davenport West boys basketball roster-

If you click on any player, it takes you to his individual page with links to stats for this season, and previous seasons! And again, these options are available for every team, in every sport, boys or girls.

This is fantastic coverage, and a lot of newspapers do it. I am just pointing to the Quad City times because it's a great example of excellent coverage, but I have noticed similar great coverage by many other newspapers. If anyone wanted to find out any of this kind of information about any local Peoria area team or players, where would they find it? Is there any trace of information like this available online anywhere? If the local newspaper want to know what they could do to increase readership, why don't they offer something like this?

pjs should do something like that. pantagraph does something similar that covers their area teams--there is some pjstar overlap.

i found a guy who ranked like the top 100 high school basketball teams in each of IOWA's 4 classes.

Assumption was top 5 in 3A

Davenport West was around 17 in 4A
