Other Valley games last night

Missouri State at UNI was on Comcast -- and both teams struggled to score and it looked like nobody really wanted it until the final minute of each half..
In the end Weems nailed a tough 3-pointer in the final second and Missouri State wins at UNI.



Creighton won 63-54 at ISU last night....so it's looking like none of the Valley teams from Illinois are doing much...

ISU looks to be a copy of Bradley -- big guys with potential who don't always produce, plus guards that for the most part can't shoot.

Jackie Carmichael turned his ankle 10 minutes into the game and was fairly ineffective after that...ending with 8 pt, 1 reb...but was scoreless over the final 30 minutes after his injury.

Their starting guards were 1-9 from 3pt, and the five starters combined for only 22 points total.

In a game where the two guys who have been carrying Creightion...Kenny Lawson gets only 6 pt/2 reb, and Doug McDermott gets 6 pt/3 reb...and everyone was just 4-11 from 3-pt -- you figure they're beatable...



In a game that exposes lack of depth for SIU -- the Salukis lose 69-55 at Drake, with only one guy contributing off the bench.
Starting PG Kendall Brown-Surles played 27 minutes and ended with zero points, 1 assist, 1 rebound....
and of SIU's 59 shot attempts, Fay, Bocot, & Seck took 44 of them to score only 46 points!



Then in the only game that looked like someone wanted to stay in the top 100 RPI's, Wichita holds serve at home vs. Evansville 91-57.
The Shockers seems to score at will running up an early 19 pt lead in the 1st half.
Wichita just seems to be able to make their shots...hitting 62% from the floor & 48% from 3-pt.
it is no wonder this team leads the Valley in FG percentage by a good margin.

That's a BIG early season win for MSU, stealing one from a still pretty decent UNI team on their court. That could be one of the statement wins in the Valley this year.

Also CU winning relatively easily at ISU red says loads about ISU. This is a team that we certainly have a shot of sweeping this year. Don't know if that will happen but ISU looks REALLY bad despite that 8-4 record. The "eye test" says otherwise!
