  • Serious Question on Players

Ok, first off, I want to say I believe players need to be coached in media speak. I read an article less than a month ago in the Journal where high school guys said why they transferred and it was comical at best...They havent been taught.

But we get this quote from Will:

Said forward Will Egolf: ???We didn??™t come ready to play. Usually you want to feel it out and see how the refs are calling the game and how the other team is playing and adjust. We didn??™t adjust tonight.???

How many times are these guys "not ready to play." Really, they were better than us, and by quite a lot.
Most of us know this league. Defense gets a lot tougher, and every team worth a darn is going to try to force anyone but Andrew to beat us.

This team simply CANNOT, give up nearly 40 points in a half and expect to win. Thats about 15 points too many.

      agreed.

I have been extremely critical of Andrew, but I believe he is playing pretty dang hard...

But this team seems to struggle, Dodie is too nice.
I thought last year Dyricus was going to be that fiery guy but it doesnt seem that way

Warren is "that guy" on the offensive end, but we desperately need a leader on the defensive end. Jake Eastman seems to be playing harder on the defensive end than anybody but he is too quiet. Walt tries hard but makes too many freshman mistakes by getting beat. Unfortunately, I don't see anyone willing or able for us on that end of the court.

Decent stat, but I think we were 0-0 in the first half.

Who do you suggest? We have 2 Sr. captains on the team. Can an underclass man step up and be that guy? Are we recruiting too many nice guys? Even Duke recruits a few cocky guys now and then. Christian Latner comes to mind! JL walked around campus with a bit of an attitude in his days. This team needs to develop an attitude soon.

An attitude may help but I don't think that's the problem. We need to develope some basketball skills at both ends of the court. We lack alot and I'm not sure we will see it happening this year. Hope so but don't think so.

Ever wonder why we did better in this regime with pre-coached/pre-developed jucos than high schoolers, especiallly with front court players?

Since when is 17 for 17 only decent? Sounds like perfection to me.

"We didn't come ready to play." Well if you did not come ready to play, what the H*** were you planning on doing for 2+ hours at the Hulman Center last night.?

These are BU's future....Can these guys play at a high level, and, comprable to the other top players/recruits with other Valley Teams?

We pretty much know what we will get from WE, AT, MK (if around), and even, I believe, JE...(as well as SM/TB if they get another year)...

I understand what you are saying AZ, but quite frankly, I'm so sick and tired of getting to this point every January (or in this year's case, December) of looking forward to next year's roster in hopes of a better outcome because the current product offers little hope of success.

For once, I'd like to be sitting in the middle of January worrying about a NCAA seed or calculating how many more wins we'll need to win the league title. If I wanted this crap of looking forward to next year as a means of easing present pain, I'd become a Cubs fan.

                            Totally agree with you AF....

My point is its worthless to dwell on this year's team results....The die is cast for this year. It doesn't ease my pain either barking at the moon over DD, WE, AT, CW, MK, JE.....lack of senior leadership etc.

If the players of tomorrow don't impress me by the end of this year, and the inbound recruits don't have impressive senior years, the BU show is going no where....period..
