That's why they play the game on the court and not on paper!
48 - Limestone
42 - Mt. Carmel
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
Donivine 14 pts but missed all his 3-pointers, 11 pts for Abrams and only 1-5 from 3-pt.
Stewart also had 9 rebounds vs. Abrams' 6 rebounds.

Congratulations DS! Glad to see DS and my old Rockets take out the big boys from the North. Even though I think Abrams is the better athlete it just goes to show that there's more to basketball than just athletic ability.
As I said before, I'm really looking forward to seeing DS at BU and think his game will translate very well in the MVC.
Both teams shot poorly, including both teams' 40% from the FT line. One positive stat is that Donivine Stewart, who handles the ball nearly all the time for Limestone, had zero turnovers for the game. He also had 0 fouls.
I don't recall Abrams making any 3s. He had a 3 pt play, but that's it. He and Donivine both had poor shooting games, but Donovine was able to play through it, Abrams was not. Abrams missed a dunk on a breakaway and was benched for nearly the entire 4th quarter. I don't know if he said something to the coach or what, but the game was tied when he came out, and he sat towards the end of the bench the rest of the game.
As far as assessing them, it was tough as both teams played zone for most of the game. Stewart seems more ready to play at the college level right now, but Abrams is more athletic and is longer, which is why I think he's been so highly regarded. He isn't really much taller than Stewart though, but unlike Donivine I think Abrams could still grow. However, I don't see him getting a lot of time for Illinois for a year or so. His jumper needs some work.
Those are some bizarre stats. Donivine was an abysmal 0-10 from 3, and only 2-6 from the line, and yet he was the high scorer from the game. The two teams were a combined 4-29 from 3, 12-30 on FT's, and Mount Carmel was only credited with 3 assists the entire game. Were they playing on carnival basketball hoops?

I will blame it on the early start time. At least 4 of DS's 3's rimmed in and out. As I said in my earlier post Stewart is more ready, but you can see some of the things that makes Abrams a hot prospect (length, athleticism). Both guys will be better tonight.
[quote=BradleyBrave;205742]I don't recall Abrams making any 3s. He had a 3 pt play,
Abrams hit a nice turn around 3 to end the 1st qtr-also wondered what the deal was w/ not playing much in the 4th qtr-must have really ticked off the coach.
He handled the ball very well but Mt Carmels offense was not much as they really stood around a lot-my big rip on Abrams today was he wanted the baLL out high and then try to penetrate and wasn't real successful but one could see the talent was thre.
Felt like DS saw the floor real well and got the ball to his teammates very well most of the time.

That's right! He banked in a fadeaway 3 at the end of the 1st quarter. Thanks for the reminder.
Yeah, I am not sure if it was the missed dunk, or something he said to the coach after the missed dunk, but soon after he was sitting nowhere close to the coach, and didn't get up the rest of the game.
Also, I should note that Chuck Buescher was at the game with Kyle Vogt.

One of the officials on the game told me he heard the coach yell at him for missing the dunk. He told Abrams he didn't need to do that kind of stuff just because he was going to Illinois. Must also be some problem with his attitude. At the end of every timeout he would not join in the huddle with other four. I'll still take DS. Go Braves
Yup. Me too. I certainly didn't come out of the game saying 'Oh man I wish we had Tracy Abrams' like I did when I saw DS play against Kendren Johnson (Vanderbilt recruit). Johnson remains the best HS player I have seen in person in years. While I think Abrams just had a bad game, nothing he did wowed me or made me think he was on a different level than Donivine.
