Sunday night NFL game between Vikings and Eagles cancelled and moved to Tuesday

The NFL has cancelled tonight's Vikings-Eagles game because they are worried about a potential blizzard and heavy snowfall tonight.
Funny. I recall a lot of people criticising some of the Bears players last week when there were some who expressed concern about the frozen playing fieldand conditions last week. Has the NFL gotten soft in just the last few days?

I think this had more to do with protecting the public than the players.

In announcing the postponement, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said:

"Due to public safety concerns in light of today's snow emergency in Philadelphia, tonight's Vikings-Eagles game has been postponed. Because of the uncertainty of the extent of tonight's storm and its aftermath, the game will be played on Tuesday night at 8 p.m.

"This will allow sufficient time to ensure that roads, parking lots and the stadium are fully cleared. The National Weather Service states that a winter storm warning in Philadelphia remains in effect until 1 p.m. on Monday."

Yah right now it's "just" snow, with potential of a foot or more by game time. But by the time the game ends, potential white out conditions could exist with the winds picking up. Philly doesn't want 50+ thousands fans finding their way home in that LOL.

Well the Bears need to wait two extra days to see if they could get the first round bye. They need Philly and New Orleans to lose this week. Hopefully that will happen because I don't want to have put all of our hopes up in Green Bay to accomplish this.

For a no. 1 seed, it needs to be: Bears beat the Pack next Sunday, Falcons LOSE to NO and the Panthers, Saints LOSE vs. Tampa Bay, and Eagles LOSE to EITHER the Vikes OR the Cowboys. 2 is Clinched if GB wins today and loses next week.

Can anyone recall the last time the NFL moved a game because of snow? Apparently the last time was in 1932 when the championship game between the Chicago Bears and the Portsmouth Spartans was moved indoors to Chicago Stadium because of bitter cold and heavy snow.

Granted the Governor said this after the blizzard missed a majority of Philly, but if it had taken it's projected course like it did to NYC, the Philly Governor would of likely delayed tonight's game till who knows when.

It would of been a catastrophe if Philly got hit as hard as NYC and the game still went on. 50+ thousand people stuck in the snow in a blizzard. I was listening to NYPD and FDNY Sunday night during the blizzard, People had to wait in hundreds of vehs overnight because PD/FD couldn't reach them due to them also getting stuck. A majority of the night, FDNY was holding 300+ EMS calls, average wait time was 2-3 hours for an ambulance.

What a dumb Governor.

Philly was forecast to get 8-12 inches of snow...they got 12. The storm moved just as projected by all computer models I saw with the heaviest snow from NJ through NYC and then up towards Boston. Philly was never under a blizzard warning...just a winter storm warning. Great job of forecasting by the NWS once it got within a day or two of the storm...not so good 2-3 days out.
