  • The return of Alex Legion

Alex Legion became eligible and played last night for FIU and Isiah Thomas...
he was 4-12, 11 pts, and had 11 rebs against a pretty weak Florida A&M team.
top 50 recruit Dominique Ferguson also became eligible and in his debut was 3-12, 10 pts, 6 TO

although he was playing well for FIU and Isiah Thomas...Alex Legion has new issues..

he has now been dismissed from FIU for "team rules" violations........

FIU actually had a stable of very highly rated kids, but this has not seemingly helped Isiah Thomas...
After winning 4 of their first 5 games they have now lost 15 of their last 20...

Alex Legion was identified as a special player at a very young age. A few observers compared him to a young Kobe Bryant, and he was pegged as a can't-miss NBA prospect. But it sounds like the kid has been severely manipulated since he was very young by parents who are separated and at odds with each other, and by a myriad of school coaches (he changed schools many times), AAU coaches, and many other "advisers". Now he has made a number of bad decisions since starting college, and he needs to take responsibility for himself or seek advice from someone who is not trying to profit from his situation. He still has eligibility left, but his time is running out. He may be best served by playing a year or so at D2 (since he cannot afford to sit out another year with a D1 transfer) then moving on to the NBA D-League.

It's very hard to tell how kids are going to pan out. Impossible to gauge how they will respond to independence, stringent coaching, and the inevitable ego bruise.
