  • Very Impressed...

With the guys on both ends of the floor...

Namely Dodie who was outstanding all night running the team...another impressive outing for a guy who was thrust into the PG position...

Also to Will for a big 1st half and the dunk that broke the drought when it was looking to head south...

Drew for being steady great as usual...

And to Jake Eastman who not only hit two big shots, but made a couple outstanding plays, including taking a charge in the guts of the game...

I will admit, I didn't expect the guys to get this much better in the new offense this quick, but this Detroit team was hands down better than at least 3-4 teams we've lost to. Our bigs have been so much better lately (credit to Coach Platt)

AND most importantly, we scored 70+!!

A great win headed to the road...

Happy Holidays to everyone...and be safe all you guys on the board that will be traveling to see family.

        Great crowd

        Worst refs of the year

We played really well, we have improved tremendously

        Alumni band was impressive

Dear cheerleader coach guy: your little squad throws shirts and balls to the same sections every game. We on the ends paid our money to get in as well.

Good win. Not looking ahead, not looking back, we did well tonight. I'm enjoying it.

            Progress!

Finally seeing the BU Team we have been hoping for the past couple seasons. Energetic D, rebounding, passing, penetration, BIGS!, inside shots being made! Don't pinch me and wake me up!

            My only gripe!

Why does every post after a BU win have to turn into a JL adoration session?

The turnaround with five minutes left in the game was very encouraging.

Best all around effort so far this year IMO. Everyone who played significant minutes contributed. Congrats to the players and coaches on a good win. Enjoy the Holidays and then come out swingin in the MVC opener!

I will say this game was the best all around game by the braves. I will say I hope Warren is 1st team all-conference. I was expecting the 5 star kid to be alot better than what he was. I don't know if we made it tough on him or he had an off night. His stats were good but dont get me wrong i would take him on BU. I also think WL has the opportunity to be as good as him eventually.

McCallum was good at handling the ball but only made one outside shot and you would think a 5 star player would be a better free throw shooter, he was not good at the line.

I really like the way Walt shifts momentum so quickly. He gets to the basket pretty much at will. I really enjoyed his drop off passes tonight as well. Shows he's maturing a bit from the standpoint of not taking wild shots when an opening isn't there.

Agee. If a person criticizes JL, and I have done so in past posts, then JL needs to be given credit for changes that work well.

The 11 day layoff has helped BU tremendously...they have retooled and moved some players to different spots and worked on a number of different offensive and defensive variations...
Anyone watching the games is seeing players in positions they've never played, playing way more minutes than they were expected to play, and doing multiple defenses & zones were rarely employ.

It isn't often and it sure isn't easy to deal with a full summer of working out then a full month of preparation and preseason practices, only to have 2 or 3 of your starters and key players sudenly and unexpectedly removed from the equation.

Virtually every time I can ever recall it happening in the Valley

When it happened to Royce Waltman a few years back -- the loss of just ONE of his best players turned a #1 RPI team into a horrible last place Valley team.

And when ISU was 21-9 in 2000-2001 and had everyone coming back including 23 ppg scorer Tarise Bryson, ISU was unanimously the team to beat in the Valley in 2001-2002 --
but when just that ONE player went down, ISU's season turned sour, they took 2 months to recover, and finished 17-14 and they went nowhere.

Creighton was 23-11 in 2004-2005 and then when they were picked to win in 2005-2006, Nate Funk went down...only one player on a talented team, but it made a difference!
The Bluejays fought hard and finished with a respectable record, but they lost 4 of their final 6 down the stretch of the Valley season, and it was claear the loss of Funk hurt them.

Of course most people never think of that so there really hasn't been much credit given to Coach Les, but the simple facts are...
he has coached his butt off under tremendously difficult circumstances, and has made many unexpected changes and moves to compensate and has done extremely well.
I don't know about winning the Valley, but if BU even finishes in the upper half, it'll be a fine accomplishment.

Les has had to do some sort of adjustment in season for most of his time at Bradley as Head Coach.

I am not either a fan of his nor a distractor of his, I think he is simply an ok coach/recruiter. But I will give him huge credit for his dedication to his job and how he simply never allows excuses. If he is dealt cards he plays them as well as he can.

He doesnt always make the greatest ingame decisions or matching moves with oppossing coaches, but his work ethic, positiveness and desire is unmatched.
