Valley Newcomers with Impact

As the Valley season comes closer, I would like to get a sense of players to look out for who are new to the league this season that will make an impact (or have to this point in the young season)

I haven't followed EU, DU, SIU, UNI much to know who their newbies are and how they're doing.

This is what I know:
Indy St. - Jake Odum could be good - similar style of play to Jake Kelly.

ISU (red) - John Ekey had 1 break-out game - don't know his numbers though and how he's done in games before that. John Wilkins will be solid. (never heard of him before this season )

CU - Gregory Echinique & Doug McDermott (gives CU a better frontcourt than backcourt, unlike good CU teams in Altman era)

BU - Lemon (9.2 ppg) and Prosser (5.2 RPG)

MSU - Nathan Sheer (hasn't been much of a scorer yet)

WSU - No newcomer impact player as far as I know - they have another PG to split time with Demetric W.

Don't forget Rayvonte Rice of Drake. He is averaging 12.4 ppg to lead Drake. That ranks 9th in the MVC right behind McDermott at 12.5 ppg. They are the top 2 freshmen in scoring in the MVC.

Also Mamadou Seck, a juco transfer, leads SIU with 7.2 rebounds per game (4th in the MVC).
And Kenneth Harris, a juco transfer at Evansville, is averaging 11.6 ppg second on UE and 6.2 rpg, tops on UE and 8th in the MVC.

BTW, Walt Lemon leads the MVC in steals at 1.5 per game.

Wilkins: 19.4 mpg, 7.2 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.0 apg, 0.4 spg, 0.8 bpg

Man, with 22 pts. last night, I would think Ekey's ppg is higher, but I guess he REALLY had a break-out game. Was this a fluke I wonder?

I'll take WL's 9 ppg any day - pretty sure he'll make the All-Freshman team if he continues to play this way.

Could be a fluke. I guess we will find out. His real addition to the team in on the defensive end. Everything else is an added bonus.

One big reason for his dented stats is that 3 games he played under 10 minutes.

Jank wasn't real sure what to do with Ekey when JW became available. Looked like he was scared to play them at the same time. After last night, that shouldn't be a problem anymore.

It's funny when your 2 best 3 point shooters are 6'9 and 6'7.

minutes played in the 2 games before Echenique was eligible...
-McDermott played 28 minutes + Lawson played 27 minutes = total 55
-McDermott played 19 minutes + Lawson played 33 minutes = total 54

in the 2 games since........
-McDermott 30, Lawson 18, Echenique 18 = total 66
-McDermott 18, Lawson 20, Echenique 21 = total 59

So the arrival of Echenique really cuts into the playing times of McDermott & Lawson (mostly Lawsonm but also Ashford & Wragge, too) and those were already Creighton's MOST productive players on a per-minute basis!!
