The good thing about this game, we actually did keep the foot on the gas for a period, and extended a 10-20 lead into a 10-30 lead.

But, yes, we blew 10 of those points at times, proving how essential that 20 point advantage really was..

We are getting good production from AW & WL - don't really have many more scoring threats than that - everyone else will chip in a few points to get us to 60+. That's who we are. IMO, WE should/could be scoring more by attacking the rim more and staying in the game by not commiting stupid fouls, but everyone else I don't expect much more scoring.

You do have a point, and I got frustrated too, with the weak post defense in the 2nd half. Seems like the 2-3 zone puts our defenders at a lull from time to time - would like to see more man-to-man to use our quickness & aggressiveness. The BIGS should not have such poor position - allowing such easy entries in the paint.
You are so spot on about the SM TB and DSE. The whole season is completely different but it is what it is you cant change history.

And honestly I am actually believing that, JL simply because he has had to adjust so often as a head coach, that this team might have a chance to come together, especially if Will Egolf wakes up.

But you said we are who we are with the 60+ a game. I agree, but last night we were not attentive to the defensive end in the second half. If you are going to struggle to score, you have to play hard defense every possession every night at the other end.

I just wanted us to take that 12 point lead and run with it and give ourselves a win and there is no question about anything. Instead we muddle along, trade baskets and win by a comfortable 9. We muddle along Wednesday, the 29th or for the rest of the year we will get burried.

Point taken H-TXBrave. The defense was much more discouraging than not reaching 70 pts. like I was hoping. I think JL is falling in love with the zone this year - maybe TOO much. Seems like teams are shooting open 3's a lot and interior passing comes too easy.
Now that you mention the lethargic D in the 2nd half, maybe a more energetic, pesky defense could have translated into more points, as happened in the 1st half when we forced a slew of TO's.

Loved the way Prosser, Lemon, and Warren looked last night.

Prosser and Lemon are freshman, so they have their flaws, but they'll both be fine. Porsser shows a willingness to set a post and be physical down low...something that our two 4th year post men aren't willing to do on a regular basis. Once Prosser realizes how big and strong he is and starts using that to his advantage on both ends of the floor, he will be a quality Valley player...

Eastman looked healthier...needs to keep shooting from the perimeter...this team desperately needs a perimeter threat, not a 6'4" guy muddling around down low...

Dodie was just bad. Sticks and Egolf combined for 1 rebound between them in 23 minutes...that is beyond poor. Both guys seem to have very limited basketball instincts, IMO....they just don't seem to have a nose for the ball and are very reluctant to be physical down low...disappointing considering they are now 4th year players in the program...

Milos and his act is getting pretty tired, IMO. He goes 1-4 from 3 last night...and when he hit his only shot of the game, he predictably spent the next 10 seconds back-pedalling down the floor, nodding, thumping his chest and talking smack to every Jackson State player within earshot...Totally embarrassing...Act like you've been there, Milos. Focus on the things that truly matter in the game, and you just might find yourself in it more often.

Will be interesting to see how we play against Detroit on Wednesday...they should be a much better test than Jackson St. was...

I guess I am considered one of the notorious Negative Nellies on the Forum, BUT,

Let's time shift to last Sunday night....

How would we have responded to a prediction BU would lead by 20, lead almost wire to wire, and ultimately win by 9 (but were ahead by 12 before garbage time started)? I know how I would have responded: all right!

I am not into style points when BU loses, nor do I care too much about style points when BU wins. Could they have played better? Certainly....Could they have played worse? I think 5 L's in a row answers that. Did they play better than the 5 L's so far...All but the Duke game, I'd say yes.

Should we expect a finished team playing to their highest level post roster decimation? Probably not. Should we expect incremental improvement, and continued improvement over the course of the season? Certainly. I don't think this particular BU line up has played their best ball yet. They did show individual improvement.

Whether that will be enough to be successful and contend for the MVC is not relevant to me anymore. Seeing player progression and "buy in", seeing if the coaching staff can get through to their players and implement startegies that the team can successfully implement, is what I need to see to stay interested this year.

The ability of the new comers this year and the recruits next year are all important to me now. This year was going to be my Waterloo for JL's future tenure at BU. With the injuries BU has had, by default, JL's season of reckoning is pushed back to next year. If this years Fr and So aren't playa's next year, along with his recruits next year (better be WL ability or greater),,,,,,,

This is what is making people so mad, that they start creating negatives out of nothing and creating unreachable expectations that always are just slightly higher than what we get. When we lose and play well people say it is about the wins, when we win and have bad stretches then it is all about how we play. If we win AND play well, then it is all about "why didn't we do that in the last game?" Never focusing on what we actually accomplished. When we win it is because some player luckily went out of his head or we were doomed, when we lose it is Jim Les' fault.

It's not just BU fans, it happens all over. Bruce Weber, Lovie Smith, etc.

AZ, good to see your perspective. Let's give these kids a chance.
