  • Donivine Stewart sparks Limestone to win

Donivine Stewart returned from an ankle sprain that caused him to miss Friday's game, to lead Limestone to an easy 67-40 win over Canton Saturday night.

From Bo Ryan's PJ Star article-
Stewart, who was in street clothes during Friday’s 78-68 loss to East Peoria because of an ankle sprain suffered in practice earlier in the week, showed no sign of injury. He finished with a team-high 12 points, at least eight assists, a half-dozen steals, four rebounds and who knows how many mind games with Canton defenders.
    Stewart sat the fourth quarter.

I was at the game and left at the end of the 3rd quarter when DS came out with Limestone leading by 20. I believe he shot 2-3 from 3-PT range and looked real good passing the ball. I joked with my son afterwards that I don't think he's able to pass someone the ball if he's looking at them. He just seems so natural with the ball in his hands and is a lot of fun to watch. One assist in particular came in transition, he was looking left and appeared to be passing the ball that direction with his arm motion, but the ball went to the guy on his right.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

I'm amazed (happily) that Donivine came back so quickly. Those ankle sprains can linger on for quite some time and I was afraid most of his Senior season would be lost to this injury. The fact that he came back this weekend hopefully indicates that he's fairly close to 100%.
