  • Reynolds: Dunson on point, as always...

Great article by Dave Reynolds. Dodie is a great guy and everyone loves him. But the most impressive thing about Dodie's story is how he has turned things around academically. He had academic problems at ISU, but his academic performance at Bradley has been tremendous. Bradley supporters are proud of DD's achievements.

    From Dave's article-
Strong work ethic and a positive outlook have allowed Dunson — who will be 24 on Jan. 6 — to also overcome in the classroom.

In his second senior season, Dunson is again one of 30 national candidates for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award in basketball. The award focuses on honoring the total student-athlete.

As a child, Dunson was diagnosed with a severe form of dyslexia and an auditory processing disorder, which severely affected his ability to comprehend words both written and spoken. Bradley has assigned a learning specialist to him for an average of 20 hours per week to improve his word recognition and reading-comprehension skills.

The results have been stunning. Dunson has hiked his grade-point average at BU to 3.65, one of the highest on the team. Twice in the last four semesters, Dunson posted a perfect 4.0 GPA.

“I’ve been able to achieve something I didn’t think I could achieve at one point in my life,” he said about attending college. “My parents (Dodie and Jaci) always told me if I put my mind to something, I could do it. It’s paying off now.”

Looking forward to seeing him run the point again. Didn't know his full name was Dorian David Dunson. Just assumed Dodie was his full name.

Hey does JL get credit for this? He should as he would if a player was flunking out.
