One of the Google ads at the top of my page tonight was for the Duke Basketball Shop. Pardon me if I don't click on that...

The Google ads are "targeted" to each user. It is able to read the cookies you have stored from previous websites you have visited and place ads that are more likely to be related to your interests. I got the Duke ad too, probably because I visited their athletics web page.

Guess we better only post about Bradley. Don't need to ever see any ISU ads!

Although I'm worried what may show up on any big man threads

Oh my! I can only imagine the kind of ads that must be popping up for some of our posters. Watch out SFP.

              I did realize that.

I just thought it was a good place to post about the targeting of the google ads. Posters have probably noticed that some of the ads seem to be about things that they might have just been shopping for.

Weird because I got one for creighton blue jay apparel and i have never been on any creighton website!

Also, do you get less advertising money from the ad on the bottom of the page. I just noticed it the other day and the ads have been up for a while now. No way those get as many looks as the ones on the top.

The ad revenue is based on something called "click-through rate"- meaning it is dependent on how many people click on the ads. And no, the bottom ad does not do nearly as well as the top ad. We might change the positions eventually.

My ads are all about whipped cream, gerbils, and jumper cables.
