Just got back. Talked with 4 fellow posters.
The Hawk was there.
Just going to mention what surprised me. The quickness of Fears. Jassey was in double figures and really surprised me. Salley was also in double figures mustly unnoticed which is a good thing. Everybody else was as expected.
Injuries: Danny Adams didn't play as he's recovering from a concussion. Sam Singh of course didn't play, but did run in the warm ups. I was told he might get minutes as early as the DePaul game.

Story on the women (nothing yet on the men):
Seventh-year Bradley women's basketball head coach Paula Buscher wasn't surprised that the play of several of the Braves upperclassmen highlighted play at the team's annual Red-White scrimmage Friday night at Robertson Memorial Field House. Senior center Ashley Chelleen (Des Moines, Iowa/Lincoln) scored a game-high 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting helping the Red squad to a 39-35 victory.

My thoughts...nice to see T, Big Mike, Radigan. I must admit with all of last years guys gone I felt like a new divorcee....strange.
Hawk and Versace sitting together. Hawk looked great. Standing O......
Fears IS quick....good Defense, suspect shot. The guy SIMPLY has to take it to the hole.
Jassey very surprising. While I don't know how much he will contrbute this year there is some huge potential. Red Shirt was agreat idea. Look for him to give us a solid 2.5 years possibly 3 depending on how much he plays and learns this year.
Salley would look good on lasts years team....IOW I don't think he's an impact player but time will tell.
Warren also with alot of upside. Very calm and under control. Voise Winters comes to mind. Young with typical mistakes but looked lightyears ahead of where Ray Brown did at teh same time.
Ray, we sure could have used you
He'll be a good JUCO.
Good passing....good defense. Crouch looked to take it to the hole if he had no shot. Ruffin seemed to turn it on when he wanted to. JJ's shot wasn't there but some classic dimes.
DUNK CONTEST....Honorable mention to Fears but Guess who Brought the house down.
ZACH ANDREWS....full court. With JL telling him he better not hurt himself ZA drops to the court...does 3 "belly worms"....some break dance move that takes him directly into his signature back to feet move.....runs full court where another player tosses the ball up by the basket and ZA has his knees at the rim (almost) for a THUNDER DUNK....
We will be quick, athletic defensive minded. We NEED to play almost everyone. We will have to wear teams down.

My observations...
Nice to talk with Mike Radigan, Big Mike, dogsrus, Da Coach, and numeous other fine Bradley fans.
Tremendous to see and have the chance to show appreciation for Hersey Hawkins.
Also, anyone there was given the chance to pick up the Media Guide, so I got mine.
The Red Team included Salley, Franklin, Crouch, Fears, Jassey, and Ryan Phillips.
The White Team included Ray Brown, JJ Tauai, Daniel Ruffin, Zach Andrews, Andrew Warren, and Brian Lavin.
Sam Singh went through warmups, but didn't play, Danny Adams was not dressed, recovering from a minor concussion.
They played mostly a full court pressing defense, so I don't think the defense was bad at all.
In fact, I thought it was pretty good. Ruffin, Fears, and Will Franklin are fine defensive guards. Fears might just lead the league in steals (when eligible) as quick as he appears to be.
The score ended up Red Team 41 - White Team 40.
Here are the scoring totals
Red Team- Salley 11, Franklin 6, Crouch 7, Fears 4, Jassey 11, Phillips 2.
White Team- Ray Brown 6, Tauai 7, Ruffin 14, Zach Andrews 12, Warren 6, Lavin 0.
Brown, Warren, and DRuff shot 3-pointers well.
Franklin has a nice jumper off the dribble, Jassey is so athletic he will get his points. Jassey even made a 3-pointer.
Zach was everywhere but sometimes forces shots, Salley was solid picking up rebounds and defending, Crouch has a nice touch, and I think Will has a shot to be All Conf, as he can score, defend, pass, and do the extra stuff. He can be what Tony Bennett was for us last year.
I left before the dunk contest, so someone else can decribe how it went.
Overall, I saw nothing to disappoint me, and was actually pleased to see the kids play as well as they did.
I think we will be able to score as well as a lot of the Valley teams.
I doubt we'll score in the 80-90's, but with good defense, we'll be able to score as much as any other team in the Valley.

Agree with most of what has been posted........AW will be a good player and will see some good minutes this year! MS didn't stand out but its only the red / white against guys you play with every day.....but he did score a lot of points! JF is special........I mean he seems just as quick as DR with the ball(and he's 6'4) and has an idea what to do with it! Also noticed that SS has a lot bigger arms than he used to have........but he has had time to hit the gym!
The player who stood out to me was Redshirt freshman SJ......the kid has a great body and seems every bit as atheletic as ZA.......but he also has a nice shot and really pressured on D..........I really look for him to contribute this season! This kid would be my surprise player of this season!
Dog........who was the 7' player behind the bench wearing a KANSAS shirt?
joke
DC........since when are you TOOO-Goood to sit with your posters?
PS........good to talk to Big Wind....Mike Rad........and the dog!!

PS-- some other people I saw or talked to
Superfan, Mark Scott, is very anxious to get the season underway.
Mark Phillips' old Richwoods teammate Justin Dehm was there watching.
Way up in the back row was Coach Joe stowell sitting and talking with Chuck Westendorf. Wonder if now that he's "retired" like Chuck Buescher was, will Westy be a good hire when the next assistant job opens up?
Also, there was a 6-10 guy there with a girlfirend watching the game. I have no idea who it was, or if he is a recruit or just a fan.

I was there. Arrived a lot later than planned. Had my Lil' Brave with me. I started out on the bleacher side not far from Stowell, but then a poddy break and eyeing some seats near the pom-pom girls (not for me to ogle sicko's - my 3yr old daughter was in awe), I wound up sitting a couple seats from DC and his wife. But as projected, I had to leave early as I was informed in her words, 'Daddy, I've told you 5 times already - I am done.' Pretty sad when I left with about 12 minutes left in the scrimmage and I still don't make it home til 9pm.
Jassey opened my eyes.
Ray Brown could have contributed big this season.
Fears is gonna be fun to watch.
Outside of that... I didn't get much.

With what very little actual basketball experience he has had to this point, he definitely did NOT look like a 'project player' tonight.
