  • PJStar: "Our View: Not So Crazy at Carver"

Didn't know if anyone saw this editorial, but as a current Red Sea member, I felt offended by the standpoint that a fan believed that the only reason to get up and cheer for the Braves was based on how the student section was cheering. Granted our student attendance is dwindling, but the students that do show up do the best they can.

The absolute minimum I expect out of a non-student section member is to stand up for the fight song. That's it, and to me, that's a pretty generous expectation.

I told you before that you guys do a good job trying to get more students to attend and are vocal at the games, cannot expect BU students to be like Duke in that Duke has won several natl. championships lately and BU has not won a conf. championship for a long time , we start winning some and the place will be packed.

I mostly ignored the comments of the pjs editor. It seemed like piling on, and is really quite unnecessary and redundant considering the abundance of articles and columns by others already in the pj star and posts on message boards over the past weeks saying the same things.

I wouldn't pay any attention to it. It wasn't a fan that wrote the editorial, it was the Urnal Star's view. You guys that do show up do a great job and I have told of couple of your group that same thing. Appreciate that you don't expect the entire arena to stand at all times like you guys do. If I was a student and sitting there I would be right up with you. The only time most of the fans stand is when they play the fight song. Last game that was once a half as close to the 4 minute mark as they could get. Don't do any good to stand and cheer at most of the time outs because the fans are practically told to shut up until the commercial, promotion or PA announcement is over. By then it's time for the game to start. Keep up the good work. Too bad the others don't appreciate your effort to get them to support their school's team.

I can understand why you'd feel offended RedSea. That was a blatant and uncalled for cheap shot at The Red Sea. From what I understand, you guys are doing all that you can to get the students to come down to Carver. Unfortunately, this student apathy has been this way for a long time.

I've always felt Bradley's biggest basketball mistake was moving the games off campus. We had a few years where The PCC rocked but that was during the Versace and Hawk heydays. I agree that a winner would help but it's no guarantee; there were few "winners" in the Fieldhouse yet the students came out and rocked the joint.

Keep up the good work RedSea. Hopefully, we'll get both a BU winner and student participation again real soon.

I didn't think the editorial was that great, either. But again, telling me that Bradley student support is weak is like telling me the sky is blue. I agree with others, the Red Sea is doing great as best as its can.

If you're student looking for school spirit, you won't find it at Bradley. Gameday is like any other day on the Hilltop, nothing to tell us there is a game.

You're a poster on BradleyFans.com, and someone has to tell you when there is a game?

I guess when you're done complaining about the coach, and the players, the next subject in line is the students. You could compare any college in the country and their student section wouldn't match up with dukes. That happens only when your program is a national power for decades. Even if BU was just a ranked team this year, I imagine the student atmosphere would be exponentially higher.

Did I say I was clueless about gametime? My point was you don't get that buzz for athletics. Winning cures all, but winning brings the frontrunners. See:

                  Lakers
                  Yankees
                  Blackhawks
                  Rangers
                  Red Sox
                  Duke

For Duke, obvious reasons why they would want to talk about. But I gotta imagine that most student, if they knew BU was playing on ESPN2, had no clue what our record was going into this. Not all, but I would say 95% of the student body.

THIS JUST IN: THE RED SEA IS NOT THE CAMERON CRAZIES.

What a joke. Keep it everyone who is in the Red Sea.

Usually the word us means me included. Don't think you can include the Blackhawks or Rangers with the Yanks, Lakers, Red Sox or Duke.

Yes I can. Have you seen the amount of Hawks stuff, they might as well have been founded a year ago! And these probably were people who thought Blackhawks hockey was small-time.

You're right about the stuff now, but was it selling that good before they won the Cup? I was just including organizations that are used to winning titles, but then I couldn't include the Red Sox in that list. Enjoy the games and help the Braves pull a few surprises.
