The kid's name is Matt Carlino and it sure sounds like he's gotten a couple raw deals......but then who really knows....?
First -- in 2007, Matt Carlino was the #1 ranked kid in the NATION in Class of 2011.
Then he and his entire family up and moved from their long time home in Arizona, when they were being recruited to Indiana by Kelvin Sampson, and Carlino was offered and accepted a scholarship to Indiana..
Then when Sampson was fired, Crean cut the kid loose and dumped on him even though he had moved to Bloomington, Indiana just to be Hoosier!
so Carlino reopened his recruitment.
But he still had the talent and was quickly offered plenty of other scholarships and chose to go to UCLA, where he is now a freshman.
He even "reclassified" from Class of 2011 to 2010 and graduated high school early just to get to UCLA and get playing time because they were especially lacking talent and depth this season because of numerous players having left!
But as weak and lacking depth as UCLA is, still Carlino got zippo playing time at UCLA..not even one minute of a single game!!! Even the walk ons have played!!
So he's leaving and going somewhere else -- getting out now before he wastes any more time there, and unbelievably UCLA coach Howland just doesn't understand..

Carlino is the 6th highly rated player to bolt and leave UCLA in the past couple years!
