A word to users regarding advertising

As much as I disagree with the moderation at times, won't having advertisement completely throw the whole theme of this site away? I have heard and read many times that because this site is privately funded, that it will be moderated heavily. So, if ads are thrown in, and it is no longer privately funded, does the moderation stay the same?

What? It would still be privately funded and owned by someone. They can moderate as they please. If you don't like it there are other alternatives.

Agreed, I occasionally disagree with what is removed, but it's not my call. I regularly disagree with people on this board, and increasingly it's been moderators and such, and I haven't seen any post disappear that were totally unjustified or anything of the like. The proper moderation this board sees is the reason it is so much more successful than the others of it's kind.

I think you could raise a substantial amount by just asking for donations and then look into adverstising. The Bradley homepage has tons of ads, I would imagine some of those same compaines would be happy to advertise on here.

Go for it. I think anybody that watches sports is already bombarded by ads. What's a few more?

Well, what if BF.com became more than just a message board? I mean, it becomes something like phog.net or Cyclonefanatic, basically a Scout style site where you get people like the mods or other users to blog about Bradley recruits, Bradley players, instant thoughts on a game (a Twitter feed that I could certainly check out!) and the like.

These collection of blogs could be sponsored by a business, and then you have some users upload video and interview someone at that business who follows Braves athletics. I mean, an example would be patrick's MCD's and the charity that the store was sponsoring. Have someone get a Flip camera, and interview a worker there or have POB (if he wants to be on camera).

Of course, the key is that the blogs must be maintained and there is work to be done. I'm just scratching the surface.
