It figures. Just about every preseason publication placed at least two teams in their top 25, but the official poll doesn't have the heart to place more than one team in the rankings. I expect to see at least two teams in the rankings most of the year.
I don't know what it will take for the voters to see how good the Valley is, but I know the bar has been set much higher this year. Whereas one ranked team in the past was cause for celebration, that's not good enough anymore now, not if we expect the Valley to be taken seriously as a power conference.
I am shocked one made the Top 25. Every year (it seems) after March, there is talk of this team or that team that is gonna be in the Top 25 as a Mid-major... and every year, they seem to forget what happens every March by Oct/Nov and they only get a few votes to be mentioned in the 'others receiving votes'.
Sadly, what happens every time a Mid-Major gets into the top 25, once they lose a game... they are gone and never make it back. So let's say a ranked Creighton loses to unranked SIU... Creighton will drop out and SIU will move up just a tiny bit (maybe cracking the Top 25). If they were B10 teams, they both get ranked.
Might as well get used to seeing MVC teams amongst those 'also receiving votes' all season.
